Anyone have oil pressure issues? Oil light stays on and oil pressure takes forever to build on warm starts after sled sits for an hour or so. Swapped sensors to confirm actual reading and problem persists. Oil pressure seems to be about 12-1500 mmhg lower than other winders here at my shop. I guess I'll be starting tear down to pin point.

What filter are you using? What oil?

I sure hope the oil pump gear hasn't spun on shaft. I've seen only one like that (and I think that sled had way too heavy oil in it with a very cold start-up).

Any chance the screen in the oil tank is plugged up? Also the pump has two screens.

Oooh didn't even think of the oil tank screen. Shouldn't be, this sled was maintained pretty religously, but an easy check before I yank this motor.

That'll do it. Now to question where this #*$&@ came from and what it is.

Before you disassemble engine you also could remove the bottom oil pan and see if screens on pump are clean and if the little sprocket is firmly still in place on oil pump shaft.

What the he## is all that?! I wonder if it came from stator?
Anyway, there's your oil pressure problem, you found it!

My guess is that the two screens on oil pump itself also have "debris."
Maybe plastic from cam chain guides?
Any chance any of that came out of Yamalube bottles?! If you have any sealed containers left, it might be good to pour a couple out and see if there's anything in bottom of bottle. Reason I suggest is once upon a time, I used to use KLOTZ 0W/40 Snow X4 Estorlin Synthetic Lubricant.
I just happened to look inside a bottle at the bottom. See pic. I had to completely disassemble oil tank, clean everything out, flush lines, change filter, etc. Fortunately it didn't ruin my 998 engine. I will never run Klotz again!!!

Yeeks that's nasty.
I might reassemble and see what my pressure is at, would love to get through this season with it.

Can you tell what that stuff is?
I've got no good ideas, unfortunately it was very fine and damn near impossible to identify anything on it. There were a few brass or bronze shavings too.

Hope it makes year. Brass/bronze NFG. You could clean the oil pump screens without removing engine. Just pull the cover down there and I think you can get at all the screws holding the pan on.

Following.. Interesting as I know of another sled that was opened up from zero miles and installed BOP gasket on oil tank.. He had lots of "STUFF" on the screens/ or inside oil tank.. He did not take a picture but described it as if the sealant used at factory was like garbage and kind of desinigrated/broken down.. This is brand new sled zero miles.. I did not see it OR work on it but this post caught my eye! I know when I opened up mine it had some silicone that holds the screens inside oil tank? Appeared to be the same garbage they used to seal my tank.. Tank leaked within a couple hundred miles from new. Not saying(crap on screen) is the sealant they used at factory to seal tank BUT its possible..

EDIT.. Like to add the sled was a late build GTX that he got in April so it was prep and ran by dealer.. It sat most of the summer in a trailer and was not run much at all if any.. Not sure this even matters but wanted to add..
