Low snow wheels - Hyfax wear

has anyone tried the Phazer MTX wheels, I've noticed that the MTX has an extre set of wheels on the curve mounted on the inside that are bigger than the marginal snow kit wheels but smaller than the normal idlers. It looks like the parts run around 150$. My MTX has NO wear in 300 miles on the curve but ALOT of wear directly under the rear arm mount, only 4" ahead of the second to rear set of wheels.

Do you have a pic?Very interested in how they did that.Maybe the rails are different in that area.

mountain skid is longer in front of the w arm and has an extra hole to mount the crosshaft and wheels. not sure if there is room in a standard rail.

Are you sure they're bigger than the marginal snow wheels? Checking the parts online for the MTX, the setup looks exactly the same as the marginal kit but the wheels are inboard of the rails. My wheels measure 3.5".

Did you have to fab anything with 5.25 idlers or just replace the existing wheels? Did you replace the inside wheels as well or just the outside?

I replaced all the mounts with Doo 2 bolt mounts. The only fabricating is widening the slot in the mount, drilling the rail for the second bolt and drilling out the bolt hole in the mount to re-use the stock bearing bolt. I used the info from this post:

The only additional thing I did was grind the bottom part of the mount a bit as it was tight against the hyfax.

There were the two rear inside idlers I changed to outer. I did not change the other inner wheels attached to suspension components as this would require machining of the bars/mounts. This is my thread with pics and description:

Just measured my MTX, the wheels are ~4.25". I thought they looked bigger than the marginal wheel kit I had on my 99 Vmax. They are small aluminum centers with about 3/4" thick rubber on them. Basically the look just like the older marginal wheels with ALOT thicker rubber on them to make them 4.25" diameter.

Prav you need about 5 1/2 inches center to center on the front set of low snow wheels. The spring will be rubbing the top of the aluminum blocks that mount your low snow wheels

so I need to move the current set up a bit before I install the 2nd set is what you're saying

I will have to check when I get my sled home... I am pretty sure I mounted them outside b/c they hit the inner wheels.

Wow, that's a big difference. No way I could use that wheel as it would pull the track too far from the hyfax. Going from 130mm to 135mm on the other idlers just takes the track off the hyfax but there is a 19mm difference between 3.5" and 4.25". The mounts on your MTX must be different and bring the wheels higher. This setup could be another option to look at instead of the marginal snow kit.

Just looked. I can see on the mounting block where the torsion spring is slamming the top. I am heading out to move them around now.

They definitely needed to be moved forward. I can't believe I didn't feel the suspension crunching the top of the mounting blocks. Nice ant-bottom kit I guess. I am going to install the second set up further on the rails beyond the lim strap cross shaft. Should work out nicely.

5.5 inches center to center would of been enough to move the small wheel forward to clear the spring.

When I get the 2nd set of wheels in.. I'll put a new set of hyfax on and post results on how it wears at the current position.
