Bought mine used. Before I put my tune, muffler, and clutching in it I just want to check my rpms in stock condition. I sifted through some old threads and found everything from 8750 to 9000. Sled has 1800 miles and is all stock. Previous owner had a tune on it though, that is why I want to check and see if it will pull the rpm it should stock. I have no idea what kind of abuse this engine has seen. So looking for actual rpms from ltx owners in stock trim

It's only a couple hundred rpm difference so I won't get overly concerned unless I can't pull at least 8750 but was just curious

According to the Yamaha manual they say 8750 is the shift rpm for the stock SW motor.

Mine turned 9000 RPM stock after some miles. You could watch it climb with more miles piling on too.

I'm more trying to gauge the health of this engine based on rpms compared to what most others are actually pulling stock.According to the Yamaha manual they say 8750 is the shift rpm for the stock SW motor.

Thanks, I've only been out once on it and it was crap conditions so couldn't string it out any. Hopefully I can open it up when I'm home this weekend and see where I'm at. Got a mega storm coming though so might not have good conditions again.Mine turned 9000 RPM stock after some miles. You could watch it climb with more miles piling on too.

The number I saw a lot was 8750. It fell down to 8400 on quite a few long rides after the 500 mile breakin process. Conditions and or warm clutches after running hard, seem to bring rpms down. First run of the day (cold clutches)rpms were always near the 8750-8800 mark.
Spun my secondary to 6-1 from stock setting of 3-3 and it helped a bit. Put a new 8JP belt on once the original one blew and THEN my rpms were back to a more often 8750-8800.

Thanks for the post, hopefully get a few more to post their actual rpms stock so I can get a median number. Again, it's only a few hundred rpms and conditions, rider weight, etc play into it but I still am curious what others are seeing. The number I saw a lot was 8750.
