As far as the prefilter, any worries about water getting in if it happens to rain, during late season rides.

Nice job but the whole idea of an airbox is to pressurize it,and buy cutting those holes in the lid I can assure you lost pressure in the airbox..Ram air forces air into a closed airbox with ducting what you have there is air induction.

Whatever you want to call the procedure it WORKS!!!!! we changed lids at the track from one that was cut to a stock cover and lost MPH Dan chime in on this i forget the MPH

I was there as well and saw it with my own eyes. We cut the tabs off the airbox lid so that it could be a quick easy swap at the track. The same sled with the ram air lid on consistently made more mph on radar than it did with the stock lid on.

If you were to feed fresh air to the rubber snorkel at the bottom of the airbox from the front of the sled you would have true ram air and achieve the same results with less time and less money spent.Heres an example, other than that excellent job!.

Love that plate on your bike!..very cool!...snow is coming, bike is put away...salts been layd on roads...time to sled!
"Ram-air" (wording) was taken from the FIX Powersports Ram-air kit....I honestly could care less what you call it....
I have the testing all on DVD,and I just watched my video of it to refresh my memory of the numbers my ram-air made last season.......I tested 114.6mph with Ram-air lid on...then put a stock lid on and minutes later ran a 111.9.....
with ram air most of the day I was running 113.5-114.6.....sure it wasnt the best day,and My RTX has run much faster on different snow/ice tracks....but this was enough proof for me to know this CHEAP mod worked and made top end MPH!
and kudos to FIX powersports...everything they sell DOES WORK....those guys know these sleds.
cya all soon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Of course you lost mph by putting a stock lid on,you have less airflow then. But if you were to run some hoses to the airbox with the stock lid you would have the same result as the modded lid.Just my .02 Excellent job RD good to see some R&D on your part.
Rightarm: So give us some numbers with the mod youve done what the advantage speed wise ???

I could be wrong, but I am yet to read what 'rightarm' has done to his sled to warrant such a ram air mod and $100each spark plugs???!!! Apparently, "it's all the right stuff for his application".
