I know this has been beat to death, but I have searched a lot and still have questions. Just want to get it right. I have an 09' 153" MTX, and am having the terrible hifax wear problems. I just ordered two sets of the marginal wheel kits. I see most are only installing these at the front of the skid just behind the curve. I also am seeing just as bad of wear problems about 9" in front of the rear axle. I was going to install a second set here. From what I can see here on the site most are only installing these wheel kits at the front of the skid. Thoughts, or any ideas on using this kit at the rear wear point as well. I have the Hartman ice scratchers on both my MTX, and 07' Phazer Mtn. The tracks are set up as loose as I can without racheting now. Many thanks for any/all input I can get prior to drilling holes in my machine.

Be careful about installing in the rear. A lot of rear suspensions the springs or upper wheels will hit them when it collapses. Place wisely. I only have added them to the front myself. Another problem for me with the stock suspension is that the ice scratchers do not mount far enough forward.

i tried putting a set in the rear of my xtx and the didnt last very long. The wheels starting coming apart. they take a beating back there. If it were me i'd try and get a full size wheel back there. Now the ones in the front worked great!
Appreciate the comments. Although I have the wheel kits now I may just "babysit" the hifax a little better. Naturally I'm the only one in the group I ride with rolling the Yamaha's (been on them 20+ years), and I'm not seeing this being an issue on the other late model rides from what I can see so far. The four stokes are definately in a love/hate spot now.

Might not be what you want to hear after buying 2 set of wheels, but, I had my track fully clipped when I bought it and my slides are still in great shape after 7500 km. No wheels to worry about, just clip it and forget about it!

I've been running two sets on my xtx all season. Like many have said, going with new bigger wheels is probably a better solution but mine seem to be holding up quite well (+2K mi). I have one set up front as most people do and the other set is on the inside of the rails in the rear. As Swelly noted, gotta be careful with their placement.
