So i was out riding my nytro today and it started to smoke. I knew right away that it was burning oil due to the smell and the fact that it wasnt very white. I checked my antifreeze just to be sure and it wasnt going down at all. got the sled home and started doing research on here. there is oil in the engine compartment that appears to be coming from around the intercooler and it looks like some oil was getting pushed out of the breather that comes off the intercooler. it was smoking and then right after i noticed it my low oil light came on, i shut it right down.
from what i have researched i am going to check the mcx oil pump to check that the shear pin isnt broken. i am also going to check the oil return line, from what i have read the oil is backing up and bleeding from the turbo into the exhaust and causing the oil to be burned from the engine? does this sound right? so i need to check anything else like oil in the precooler or intercooler? would the oil return line or oil pump failure cause oil to be backup up through the precooler and intercooler and be the cause of some engine oil in my engine compartment? i am not an expert at all in these turbos, but i am fairly handy and would like to try and figure this out. what are other things i need to check and if it is one of these things is there anything else that could have been hurt by this oil burning backup issue?
