I had Turk's sled out today for the shakedown run of the meth kit I recently installed. Wastegate is set for about 8lbs (it has a Hallman boost controller) and I topped it up with a fresh tank of 91 octane.

Meth is coming in at about 6 lbs, and is all in by about 12. 15-16lbs boost was no issue on repeated runs. Motor is stock (no shim) 12.0 a/f, not great conditions for cooling/lube.

If I rode the sled the way I did today without meth, it would literally have not lasted 5 minutes.

NO kidding. By comparison, the boosted Apex I was riding with today (member JLR) was running on a mix of (I think) 114 and pump premium. At 50/50, that's about an $80 tank of gas...

I need to see that on my dyno, how much power at 15-16 lbs on meth and then how much power with as much boost as you can run with no meth. Have one of Daves kits in the shop never installed it. Not knocking meth but you must be giving up power.
 
Jim How does the meth work if it comes in around 10 for us that have head shims? Where does the cap end at? Meaning with meth injection what is the limit?? comes in around 10 lbs and is good to 24lbs? or 30 lbs? on the top end....

Wasn't apples to apples. The Apex is geared for MPH, and the RX is geared for 660'. That said, the RX (Turk's) ran harder than I expected it to, much harder...

I know what you're saying, but with proper tuning I believe you can net more power with meth than you otherwise could running your best pump gas set-up.

I'm hauling my own sled out to Dave's for a dyno session this summer. One of the goals will be to establish the optimum slope for my meth curve.

Thats what i live & breath for.I really don,t do flat out full speed runs. I can adapt pretty easily but i like the corner to corner stuff. Some day & gotta start playing with flat out top end runs....cus it,s easy to do the change.
Guys; if you want a 660' set up let me try to help. Just gonna cost ya a beer down the road.
Just a heads up...i sell no parts(unless used) but with enuff info I can dial in what u got!

There's a bit more to it than this AJ.

The controller has 2 settings - PSI that pump engages at, and PSI that pump will deliver 100% pressure at. I'll post a graph (from the instructions) that will help a lot in explaining the effect of changing one or both of the settings.

Turk - there might be a quick way to address what TT is saying above.

I had very good traction today, probably better than you've ever had with T2. What should the RPM have been out of the hole and at full shift? The engine/clutching/timing/cams are identical to the last time you rode it.
 
9800 rpm at engagement climbing to 10,200 at the finish line.
This will give you the best result on a rubber(no piks) turbo sled in 660'. It don,t get any better!!!
This is as good as it gets.
 
That's close to what I was seeing at the start of the day...

End of the day - I smacked the rev limiter twice on acceleration, and full shift RPM was 10900-11000.
 
i can fix that in 30 seconds or less.
If you get the rpm,s down to that level the race is over.

Oh, I know that!

To TT's point though, I picked up a conservative 700 RPM over what I'd be comfortable running without the meth, and I still could have dialed the boost up more.
 
Bottom line...that set up is making huge power on crappy canuk 91 octane. Can,t wait to start tuning it up at high boost levels & actually being able to start the sled at -20!
 
Jim ,would I be running to much octain on 20 psi and straight c 12 race fuel with the meth starting at 9 psi and max out at 20 psi .My a/f is 11.8 at 10400 rpm on top end .When people say you may loose hp with the meth how do you tune to get back the hp you lost .thanks
