First off, if I ever meet the guy who designed the chaincase / oil tank contraption I will punch him directly in the mouth. What a cluster #*$&@ of a design. I changed my engine oil last Saturday and I decided that I didn't want to try to pull the cover until my next oil change. Figured I would find a way to make a damn mess if I did it with oil in the tank. So I went and bought a mityvac . The hose that's supplied will not fit down to the oil in the chaincase, at least I couldn't get it down there. I ended up using aquarium air hose for aeration in the fish tank. Still took allot of screwing around to get it down there but it went. The vac itself worked awesome, pumped it up to 20-25 and let it draw the oil out, didn't take long at all really. I pulled out about 11oz according to the jar I captured it in. I don't think that you will get it all using this method. What I pulled out was pretty silvery, had quite a bit of metal in it. Definitely needed to be changed with less than, 700 miles on it . I put in Amsoil synthetic chaincase & gear oil, that's what the dealer gave me. Also stripped out the torx bolt that holds the seat on but that's another story and another designer that needs to be punched in the mouth. Ended up drilling it out and putting a well nut in, now a ½" wrench will take the seat off. What should have been a half hour job took me half the evening.

I change both in about an hour and a half , it's not a bad job at all , just change the chain case oil when you change the engine oil !

And most important buy GOOD torx bits not the ones from the chinese tool store..............

That's my biggest problem I have crappy torx bits, never used them much before. Where I hated the plastic push rivets on the Nytros now I hate the torx screws. Would sooner a nice Allenhead or something. Definitely need to get a set of good ones instead of the garbage I have.

I'm not much of a mechanic but that's the first thing I did was go out and buy a decent set of torx bits !!
I drilled a hole through my belly/side cover for oil change and chain case. The new belly protector covers it right up. 1 inch at the base of the lowest part.
No mess, but as for the chain case what a pita.
