As long as the API specs meet the manufacturers recomendation you are good to go.

I've been using Mobil 1 0W30 in my 06 Attak since 500 miles. Now at 8,639 and no problems. I change the oil and filter every spring after riding is over.

If your engine does fail how will you know if the oil had any effect?

You send the oil out fo an analysis. That will tell you if your API rating is still within tollerances or if your oil fails and was basically just working like water. it costs around $20 by an independant lab and it can tell you everything about your oil. I send both of my sleds oils in every year for annalysis. This is how you hear of people going 200,000 miles on vehicle oil changes. If the oil is holding up there is no need for changing it.kinger said:If your engine does fail how will you know if the oil had any effect?
