i just got off the phone with a HUGE SELLER of the PC3s(I dont want to name them cause I want to get the last module hes got instock..lol, but you should know them since you also have a harley)....and i got a package deal of $578 shipped to my door......so Im thinking of going for it.....
so,the next question is....do you mind sharing the MAPS with me,and Ill talk to Jonathan and hope to do similar to what you did.
also, didnt someone here MOD a stock exhaust with pics?....would this HELP WITH AIRFLOW to get more out of the pc3 and module?....
Dan
Here is the link for the exhaust http://www.ty4stroke.com/viewtopic.php? ... ht=gutting
It is none of my business but you might want to give Allen a chance to make the deal , he has been very helpful to me and a sponsor .

Not sure if its true but I has been posted several times that gutting the stock exhaust lost a few HP.

On a stock sled with just a modded airbox, do you guys feel most of the power is coming from the advanced timing or are you gaining some by tweaking the stock fuel delivery as well?? Is it possible to set up so if you were somewhere and couldnt get good gas that you could have a program with less timing?? How much timing could you get away with on regular 87 gas?? 2-3 degrees I'm assuming?? Anyone know?? Thanks

I remember reading somewhere that 4 different programs could be set including one for a stock setting.

The Power is coming from mostly advancing the timing. I talked to Allen yesterday about this thread and he said in all of his on the field testing, that you could add more fuel through the Power Curve, but all it did was descrease the fuel economy and did not really show any more performance to offset the decline in fuel economy. Also, the reason, most of the fuel is changed when the TP is at 100 is because, that is where he advances the timing. He only adds fuel from 4000 to 5250RPM (probabbly to get ride of the lean bottom end bog) and then alot of fuel at WFO.
RockerDan, I would not worry to much about the Exhaust. I am currently running the stock exhaust, right now, but I will be adding my Excell to it by the end of this week and I have a new map to give it more fuel. The Excell looks so Stock looking I don't think the cops will even know. There are a couple of guys that have it around here with no issues.

With the Excell if you get the side panels painted as I did, it looks stock. Several people thought my Excell was the stock exhaust.

Hey guys....awesome info,thanks!
Ok....as far as MAPS go,is there a MAP for the ign module and another map for the pc3?..
once again, the issue i have with excell is that we all ride apexs here, and if i pull up with a different exhaust then all the other apexs, even if its not loud...i get a ticket cause its been changed, doesnt matter if its loud, just been tampered from stock.....sucks i know.
also,i just heard back from ALLEN...he says you dont HAVE TO RUN PREMIUM fuel,if you arent holding it WOT for really long hauls,so for trail riding im thinking regular would be sufficient...here is ALLENS email reply to me(C&P)
The items work just fine with the stock exhaust and modified ram air lid. The setup is only enhanced further with the exhaust. I attached a dyno sheet, the red line is box stock, the blue line is with PCIII & Ign installed (also had rev limiter moved at that time to 11,500, but top end power is the same with rev limiter at stock). The premium fuel is recommended, but not necessary if you aren't going to be racing wide open for extended amounts of time.
Best Regards,
Allen Ulmer

Ill paste in the DYNO sheet here too...

Do you really want another blow up, run the Premiem. It's good insurance... Remember the reason he is saying about the fuel is because he only advances the timing when the TP is at 100 percent otherwise the timing is still stock.

LOL.....oh i will for sure.....
but as you know so many places around outskirts dont carry anything but reg.....
so,the way it works is off the TPS....if you are just trail riding along midrange, you dont get the 6 degree advance correct?....but if you crack the throttle to WOT,then you get the 6 degree advance thru midrange on its way up to WOT....i believe thats the way it works?
what is the deal with 4 different maps?....can you really store 4 maps, then just flick to the map you want to run?....is it possible to run a STOCK map(or close to stock) in the memory, then when you go trail ride and get some crap gas,you can flick it over to stock map???..now that would kick #*$&@.
then maybe a real HI END MAP,for short drags and premium fuel with lots of timing and fuel?...
having FOUR MAPS in a Memory.....would be like having 4 different sleds!!!....all the way from a MILD stock fuel economy sled to a WILD advanced timing drag sled.
so tell me about the MAPS,and can they be stored?...also,what about timing maps?...are those separate altogether?
thanks,trying to learn all this!..lol

At 5500RPM the timing gets advanced 6 degrees up to 10,000RPM, back down to 0 until 10,500 then up 2 degrees till 11,200RPM. This of course is all done when the TP is at 100 percent. The timing map is all apart of the map.
I don't believe you can store 4 maps at once... It loads and runs one at a time. I could be wrong though, I think you need the addition of a Hub for it to work with multiple maps.

Two ways to store maps. With a Multi-Function Hub and a Handlebar Switch which retails for $160 this will allow you to toggle between 2 maps. Next you can get a LCD Screen in which you can load an infinite amount of maps in (most I have tried is 8 maps at once) that is stored on a memory card which retails for $300. The LCD screen also allows you to datalog.

I acquired a fuel and ignition module map last week. In this ignition map there is timing advances in the midrange and on top. I ran his map last weekend and it really made a difference in the midrange as well as top.

ALLEN,
thanks alot for this info....i just did some research on the hub and LCD and then you answered here,lol....found out exact same thing on the powercommander site....very cool stuff this new game of PC performance(at least its new for me!)
so the cheapest way to have TWO maps would be HUB plus handlebar switch....but the LCD sounds veery cool!!....i like this idea, maybe ill go that way for next season.....for now ill get one MAP with pc3/ign module going....cant wait!
Now....all you guys who have these, can we get some pics posted up of where you all are installing them?.....where to attach?.....any tips and tricks the directions dont tell ya?....pics are always worth a thousand words!
you all know Ill post up pics when i do mine!..lol
