Overall I am very happy with my MTN RX1
The weight is an issue, but the power, fit and finish, and the dealer setup was top notch.
They addressed the handwarmer issue for next year, my float bowls are on the way , now they just need to cut more weight and add the carb heater shut off from the factory.
A short track is not even an option I would consider - I need a mtn sled for 80% of the riding that I do.[/code]

When you ride where I do(<-- note picture) a shorty is out of the question unless you got at least a couple of guys on mtns to break trail for ya. I am never happy with stock anything so mods will continue here.

I'm very happy with my sled. If Yamaha would have had the 136" sled for 03 thats what I would have got. I belive 121" is just too short. I live in mid Michigan and ride in the Upper Pennisula or Continental Divide area of Wyoming. The only problem I have had (other than moister in the gauges) is an over heating that no-one seems to get a handle on. I belive we need a rear heat exchanger. Before this forum crashed there were a few people that had installed one, dumb ol me, I thought I would just refer to this forum this summer BUT---
If anyone has info please let me know.
THANKS

If I could turn the clock back a year, I'd be putting my money down on the RX-1 Mtn. (Black of course, they're faster).
It wasn't all Yamaha claimed it to be, but it's still what I was wanting and expected. About my only complaint is the carb bowl issue. I WANT MY NEW BOWLS :!: :!: :!: This is a serious issue for those of us that ride the steep and deep. When your 700ft. up on a 65 degree slope, the last thing you need is for your sled to hesitate even for an instant  It's almost cost me my sled a couple times. Hope they got the new bowls on the 04's.
Oh.....and the weight. 100lbs. lighter would be nice :!:

I made a cooler for the rear of mine and had everything posted on the previous forum with pictures. It was a rear cooler from a Viper - modified
and worked flawless haven't seen the temp light since even on hard pack groomed trails for 60 klm straight.
Hopefully we'll have the photo upload soon and i can post all
my info and pics again. 8)

I am very pleased with my black RX-1M. Of coarse they are faster but besides that it has the best of all the worlds. Fast, good booddocking, good climbing, reliable, good gas mileage, and a 10/10 on the fun factor. I love this sled!!
And my float bowls are in. Just need to get the beast down to the dealer.

Have put on rear heat exchanger, and have not run hot ever since. most rx-1 mtn. boys have done that here, and it works.rx1mtn said:I'm very happy with my sled. A shorty is useless here in Montana. You can't even get back to the good riding with one. I like my sled with the 151, awsome!

it is a rebuild rear heat exchanger for I think it's a mtn. wiper, but you have to cut and weld like a pro to do the job (mine came welded for 385 $) then you need som hoses (spelling) to do the fitting.
I just cut the rear pipe that connects the to side coolers, fitted the new hoses on the cut pipe, i used 2 hours to do th job.
will provide pic when i get home from work today, so i will post it tomorow
Kindly
Ib
