Yes the hurricane kit is very easy to install. They win. Yay them!!! Not sure why anyone else even tries to be in the market.
My point was that the MPI instructions show every single little thing to do. Every zip tie, which angle to put stuff, what torque for bolts. They are trying to achieve consistency over many different installers. I think that if I was to get an aftermarket kit on a sled that was not brand new I would go Hurricane. I am not sure why guys are so determined to slam other options. There are many from Turbo's, 4th wheel kits, clutches etc. Not everyone needs or wants the same thing. Just my 2 cents (Canadian so 1 cent US)
Not intended as a slam at all, just surprised to hear 100 pages of instruction... If I wanted to slam someone it would be Yamaha for this friggin starter issue. Feel like I'm playing Russian Roulette every time I start the thing....

Wow, 100+ pages of installation instructions, just two or three pages for the Hurricane 190 kit.
There was a very good reason to move the oil separator and the thermostat housing. My EVO did not move them but is water cooled so the turbo does not generate the heat you would expect for a turbo.

There was a very good reason to move the oil separator and the thermostat housing. My EVO did not move them but is water cooled so the turbo does not generate the heat you would expect for a turbo.
I'm sure they had their reasons for going to the extra trouble of moving things around. I see the EVO has a water cooled CAC, does the turbo have cooling as well ? I saw a very nice heat insulation blanket for the 1100 turbo on the EVO site but nothing available for the viper or Garrett turbo.

Huh??? The turbo is water cooled to keep the bearing cooler and remove heat when the engine is shutdown, not to keep the external temps of the turbo cooler. Even so what does that have to do with the thermostat housing?

Yes the turbo is water cooled, amazing how cool it is when you stop and pull panel off.

Right, but as you said making the bearing etc cooler, also makes turbo external temps lower.

MPI is in the process of revamping there instructions to reflect the EABC and new oil return setup, those were the parts that were most confusing to me.

cooling the bearing will in turn take the housing temp down which in turn will keep intake temps lower. but how much faster will it raise the water temp when idling at stop signs or riding on minimal snow conditions. i like the idea, just some thoughts for us who aren't blessed with multiple feet of snow.Right, but as you said making the bearing etc cooler, also makes turbo external temps lower.

should be but maybe they run a larger volume of water to cool it better. there is only a limited amount of oil going through the bearing. not sureIsn't oil also cooling the turbo bearing?

I can tell you I can take the side cover off and touch the intake side of the turbo. Nothing hot no funny smells like our other turbo. Check out an EVO turbo sometime if any are near you, the Thunderstruck guys are running them.

I have a turbo on about every toy I got and the water cooled turbo I doubt is any cooler because they still glo under low light. It's cooling for shut down on a hot turbo

Your opinion is noted, doesn't change the fact our two turbos side by side the EVO is much much cooler. Although maybe something else makes the EVO so much more cooler but I doubt it
