ive been reading Lot of people are going with gearing there turbo vipers for more top end.

What gearing combinations are people using , and how much gains are you getting?

Ltx se, stock 24/50 gearing all I could pull was 109 mph, switched to 21/41 gearing (stock xtx gears and 86 pitch chain) and ran it up to 116 mph, and wasn't shifted out yet. The sled gained everywhere with the taller gearing.

That sounds like the way to go. Did you keep the original chain?

No I ordered both gears and the chain right through yamaha, total it came to like $150 for everything, 1000 miles on the new gears and chain and it works great. It's just the stock chain and gears for the xtx viper

I didn't know the xtx would be geared taller then an ltx.

Thanks for the info

The xtx uses 8 tooth drivers, ltx uses 9 tooth drivers, so that's where the difference in gearing comes from. The xtx and ltx theoretical speeds are actually within 1 mph of each other, but put the taller xtx gearing on an ltx or rtx and you'll be all set to run some good speeds.

Hey Barry do you think there would be any gains from a none turbo with clutching and exhaust on a ltxse with your gear and chain set up or not enough hp?

Without actually doing it there's no real way to know for sure, but I'd love to see someone try it! With mine I noticed no difference at all in low-mid range pull, clutching stayed the same, only things I noticed that really stuck out were obviously much higher top speed but also it was much easier to maintain traction on a hard launch, and to me that's almost something that an n/a viper could benefit from as much or more so than a turbo. Granted the turbo really has no noticeable lag on a launch, but the n/a viper makes a ton of power just instantly so it's very easy to just blow the track out, taller gearing seems to have helped my sled in that area.

I went with 21-41 also. Ran it all year. I was going to change my gearing even if I didn't turbo charge it. Top speed was not the reason I did it. My thought was to "calm" the sled down a little on the bottom and out of corners. One benefit was I can get 16.5 mpg if I want.

I'm seriously thinking of changing the gearing of my 2015 LTX SE to the XTX gearing. I keep reading that stock XTX's are faster top end. My sled basically tops out at 89. Does anyone know what the top speed of a XTX?

Xtx uses taller gearing than the ltx, but the xtx also has smaller drivers. Theoretical top speeds of the ltx and xtx are within 1 mph of each other. At 89 mph im assuming yours is just a stock sled?
