I'm getting ready to put a pcv on my turbo viper, since this will eliminate the ebac does anyone have a starting point to set the waste gate? Sled is stock with mpi turbo so don’t want to go over 6 psi.

3 to 4 threads behind the jamb nut is a good place to strait. Why would you removed the EABC?

Thought it had to be removed when you put the pcv on in place of the gems. If I don’t have to take it off I’ll leave it. Not needing to go crazy on it. Just want better fuel control. The gems was always running way rich.

Yes it has to come off if you go to a PCV but what are you trying to gain by removing it if you are staying at the same boost levels.

Main thing I’m trying to get is the fueling to work right. Seems like it always wants to run rich. I’ve set the gems down every time I’ve rode and put the race muffler on and still runs really rich. Pcv seems to be everyone’s preference on them for easier changes. If I can up the boost a little that’s an added plus but I don’t want to push it and cause problems the ebac is set at 4.5lbs I believe, if safe id go a little higher but don’t want to push my luck and cause problems. Just a fun trail sled.

I agree with you the fuel is not the greatest with gems they run rich. I personally couldn't justify the extra cost of a pcv just to clean up the fuel a bit. I would have just as much fun on the sled with or without one. A little fuel savings yes but still not enough to justify. Its still just a sled I play with 3 months a year. Fuel map is crap but it works for me.
The eabc automatically adjusts depending on altitude/barometric pressure and it's starting point is 4.5 at sea level but can go up to 8 at high evaluations. Eabc will give you more boot at safe levels as you increase in elevation. Peace of mind. No fuss

I have installed quite a few of these and some do run rich and some do not. The thing you will loose is the quick spool. I feel the EABC spool faster than the non-EABC. But I guess you live and learn on these animals. There is one mode that needs to be set opposite as the normal rich and lean mode in order to get the gems to correctly drop the fuel levels. What do you feel is too rich? What are your numbers on your machine that you feel it should be removed?

if its a mode 5 then you should raise Red Blue to 7 or more to lower the other numbers.Believe it was a 5 mode. I kept lowering the numbers trying to get it to lean out some and didn’t seem to matter.

Yeah I got a map from Ulmer for it. Everything I’ve got from him in the past has been spot on.We had all ours on 7 on that mode. You will need a Map for the PCV or you will be more frustrated then the gems. Good luck. I worked with Ulmer on my 12lbs Viper and he supplied all the Maps and info.

My Ulmer mapping right out of the box was spot on in my opinion as well, ran 8 psi up to 12 psi and never actually needed to change I thing. I did lean my out some in the cruising rpm range where there was little to no boost, wasn’t necessary but I do feel it helped my mileage by 1-2 mpg on a full tank of gas. As for boost..I’m assuming you have a boost gauge? If so, set it at 5 psi and enjoy it..don’t get greedy and try to run 6 or higher if you do any long pulls of any kind, also don’t be afraid to run high 10’s/low 11’s wot afr..a little rich won’t hurt a thing, leaning it out at wot is only going to gain minimal amounts of power and you’ll never notice the gain. Keep the wot fueling safe and if you want to tune anything focus on the mid range/cruising fueling as that’s where you’ll notice the increase in mpg and throttle response..of course you need an afr gauge to monitor that and if you don’t have one or intend on getting one then just set boost and go, Ulmer’s mapping will treat you very well!
