MSD Launch Master WOW

Can someone explain how it builds boost Vs holding it at rpm?.. is it when in full throttle it builds boost?..so it's not rpm that builds boost?.. or is it a load that builds boost?..

might be a dumb question but just trying to understand it a bit better.

Thanks

This launch control will not build boost for launch. You actually need a full msd ignition i believe. I have this and is great for launch with a quick spool turbo. even better with front mount. It's the load that builds boost. thats why it won't make boost on a stand

Wrong the MSD Launch Master PN 4350 will build boost off the line, a lot of boost. Guys around here running them on the MCX powered Apex'es have to turn down engagement to reduce boost off the line. You will reach full boost after 2 seconds on the button and WOT throttle.

It works by burning unburnt fuel in the exhaust sending flames out the exhaust thus spinning the turbine up to speed and building boost without much rpms involved. Remember heat drives the turbine wheel, not only the air blown by the motor.

???

Guys around here have it set at 3800-4300 on the Apex's, shooting flames out the exhaust, launcing like crazy, snow's flying 100+ ft out the back at take off :)

The advertising from MSD says it great for building boost off the line in a turbocharged application and I know for a fact it works in the MCX rear mount Apex's I've seen racing.

NICE!!!!
Is it worth getting one of those for a supercharged apex? I wouldn't mind havin it just for the flames. even

A supercharger is driven off the crank. You will not gain anything other than a consistent rpm before take off, boost will be the same with or without the MSD LM. It works building boost on a turbo because it's driven by exhaust gas heat which the MSD LM helps building.

anyone having any problems with wide band o2's mounted in the downpipe when using the launch master? Just wondering if there is any adverse affects on them with the popping and the flames, possibly cracking the ceramic and damaging the sensor???
