well TNC you can stick your WISH for $200. trail pass, real fair for the POOR SOB that can only ride twice a year and cant take his family because it would cost him $600. in trail passes for 3 old sleds.Nobody wants to pay more for anything. However if trail passes would be doubled in price and we could pay groomer operators a respectable wage. A higher wage would certainly make grooming more desirable. How many people do you know that would run a groomer from sun down to sun up for $10/hr. Heck I would be all for paying $200/pass if I new I would be riding on glass all year long. Look at the prices of trail passes in Canada. I've never been to a groomer meeting, and I'm sure there are a plethora of issues that have to be dealt with....but when I found out groomer operators make 10-12/hr, that answered a lot of questions.
And do you really think higher passes would make any difference?
They would just steal the money and do what they want with it.

I say we move the rides somewhere else......seems like Munising is not the place to go anymore and every year is the same BS with the trails.

And that is exactly what I'm afraid of. We move and all the good people and business in munising will lose $$$$$$ because of this. That sucks.I say we move the rides somewhere else......seems like Munising is not the place to go anymore and every year is the same BS with the trails.

Then the business owners and people in higher places in Munising/Wetmore need to voice their opinion very strongly, so the trails to their business keeps getting groomed.....plain and simple. If trails continue to SUCK, snowmobilers will avoid that area like a plague. Can't have idiots like the owner of Foggy's bitch about snowmobilers when the snowmobilers are making him rich.....that's why I don't go there much anymore.

TY and the rides/get-togethers are the only reason I go to Munising. If the venue changes location, I'm good with that!I say we move the rides somewhere else......seems like Munising is not the place to go anymore and every year is the same BS with the trails.
I will say, however, the hotel has been very accommodating!

Well after reading this we will not be stopping or supporting any business near Muni... We have a backpack trip planned and this was one of the stops... Canceling reservations in muni... Staying south and going further east to newberry... Thanks for the heads up!!!
THIS is spot on... Only way for business owners to feel our frustration is stop spending our money there... Then when their only choice is to close up shop or stand up and fight for better trail conditions, they might fight harder!!!
Anywhere in the Western UP all you hear is if snowmobiling wasn't such a big thing here... Most places would be closed!!! Some resorts and bars claim they make 80% of their income in those 4-5 months

Could always do the ram it in in Hancock... Plent of rooms, bar, and M&M dealership right next door... I kinda know Chad... Maybe he would be willing to sponsor part of it... Just a thought

I hate to say it but at this point I agree.
Angela has the perfect set-up for us at the hotel and treats us well, but I am not going back and spending my hard earned money for trails like we had last time.
I would rather stay home!
I try and make as many rides as I can, mostly to visit with all you guys, it's like a large family reunion and I look forward to it every year.
I would say as I get older I get, I go 2/3's for the people and 1/3 to ride.
If the trail conditions would continue like they are, I think I would leave the sleds at home and just drive up to see all of you guys!
Well, I am probably kidding myself and would bring the sleds, just incase the trails would have improved.
Any way, I am really hoping they can get their act together, and they get some Good snow and they can get the trails back in shape before our next ride!

I am with you there Jim, the only Good thing is you live just off trail 7 and can go south easy, and usually they have Better trails that direction
I would really feel sorry for you if you lived off trail 8!

I am all for reviving the Wawa, Ontario TY ride. This has been a low snow year, but they are getting more now. The exchange rate plus the gas prices would have made this a very economical year. Maybe something to think about next year . . .
I didn't make it over to Muni during the last ride due to the conditions. The Seney groomers did a good job though.

That is one of the reasons I go to Munising, to spend time with my pal Buddah. Sure am glad he knows the back trails.....
If I lived there I would be furious and demand answers from the groomer people. Clearly, we can see the groomers sitting outside and not getting worked on. Total BS! They should get fined from the MSA for not keeping up maintenance and grooming. And to say the warm weather kept them from grooming is hog wash. The weather wasn't that bad and there was plenty of snow.

Good to know about Foggys, went there a few times with my wife and son last trip spent close to $200. I'm sure other restaurants in the area will welcome snowmobilers. Then the business owners and people in higher places in Munising/Wetmore need to voice their opinion very strongly, so the trails to their business keeps getting groomed.....plain and simple.
