I Just got a great deal on a 2007 Vector. I picked it up friday and it only has 209 miles on it . I have never had a 4 stroke sled before but Ive been on a yamaha most of my 28 years on a sled. My 1st impression was great . Its a different sled then my 96 phazer , it gonna take some getting use to. Its similar in a way to my ol 2001 srx 700, Acceleration is awesome , it pulls everytime you squeeze the throttle . Some people had said there a little lacking in power (the 4 strokes) but not this sled. For the most part everything is new and nice , however, I would like some feedback from others on two things I found bothersome with this sled . One thing I didnt like is the unresponsiveness turning on corners seems it should be more responsive but it doesnt turn very well . The other concern was very noticible after 5 or six miles the vibration at times down on left foot kinda through the tunnel and my thumb and hand on the throttle felt like it was going to sleep , not sure if its vibration or the fact i had to keep the gas cause it wasnt really coasting to much .
I dont know how to "set" a sled up for my style of riding . I weigh 190lbs . The shock springs appear to be turned down exposing 3/4 of the threads on the shock . I have set the turn lever to max soft . Im not that aggressive on a sled . I mostly enjoy a soft ride at moderate speeds occasionaly fast where i can see up ahead of me . If anyone has some experience to share i would love some feedback . I dont know much about this style sled and want to learn all I can .
thanks:)

Congrats on the new sled...start with the skis; try Snowtrackers with stock or switch to Kimpex arrows.
Pull the strap up a notch and maybe add some ski pressure.
Good luck once you make a few changes you'll love that sled.
Don't know about the vibe you're getting?

I would suggest starting with some different ski runners to address the turning isssue. The stock ones aren't very good. I'm very happy with 4.5" Deuce bars on my '06 Vector. No pushing in corners, no darting, and no increase in steering effort.

The vibration could be several things. Try a new belt and see if it goes away. The previous owner might have tried to take off with the parking brake on and wore a notch in the belt.

Thats a good Idea , I will order a new set of ski scaggs and a new belt . Its my understanding it will take a hpx 5009 by dayco. but I think Im going to get a gates extreme belt for it .

Kimpex arrows turn easier than stock and rail corners...I have thrown many $ at two Yamaha four strokes and have found the stock skis basically worthless no matter what bars I put on them. Good idea with the belt.

I believe most will tell you to get a OEM Yamaha belt, they last the longest but are usually a bit more money.

13 mm stabilizer bar will also help if you feel like your getting a lot of body roll and sled feels tippy. It made a big difference for me but its not really necessary if your happy wih the sled in that aspect. My sled felt tippy so i tried it out and it made a huge difference for me.

I have the exact same sled. Put on Woodies Doolie's 4" which solved the steering issue.Stick with Yami belts, they really do last a long time. I'm 200lbs. and find 3 up from soft works for me. Usual things to watch out for on the sled is chain tensioner and do-nut replacement, there is a lot of info on these problems on this site. Love the graphics on the sled, I'm sure you will have many miles of great rideing.

After driving it today for about 55 miles , I think in snow it turns ok , on anything else , not so much . I will look into sme different ski scaggs ....I did notice some serious drag down hill , the machine will not coast , when I let off the gas it will slow down very quickly . I feel this isnt right . It seems like I have to be in the throttle too much . I guess I will call a yamaha dealer tomorrow . Ive looked into several pages on here and dont see anything on coast or drag down hill.

Your Vector has a lot of engine braking effect. That might be what you're experiencing. It took me a while to get used to it, and I still forget sometimes. A couple weeks ago I was going downhill in fairly deep powder and needed to carve a turn to the left as the ground leveled out. As I moved my right leg over to the left side, it caught on my saddle bags and missed the running board. For some unknown reason I let off the throttle. The Vector did a nose dive and came to a stop while I kept going forward, tumbling in the snow for about twenty feet. My wife still thinks it's funny.

Where are you located? If we are close by we could do a comparison.

haha...well , it makes me feel a little better knowing im not alone in this sensation. I live in New Hampshire USA. Are we close?...I am becoming more use to the sled . It is a little tippy in the front . Now knowing what its going to do, I can adjust my body before it tips . ....but anyway , The sled going down hill with no throttle will slow to a stop at the bottom and it just seems different to me , but keep in mind I have only driven 2 cycle phazers and a SRX700 speed down hill came naturally .

Engine breaking is what your feeling. Its normal and does take time to get used to. When your going down a hill keep on the throttle enough to keep the track engaged. This will keep the sled from tail whipping. Also says this in my owners manual. Now im used to the engne breaking i rarely ever use my break. Only time i do is if theres riders behind me ill tap them quick to give them a heads up a stop is ahead.

My first experience with this i hit a small mogal but enough to get some air. It caught me off guard so i let off the throttle. I landed flat but because i let off the throttle the sled almost tossed me over the handle bars.

Well I cant believe my luck . I went out this morning the outside temp was about 5 above 0 , went about 13 miles to an interction , stopped , the Temp light came on ,the motor was very hot . I shut it off got off the sled and saw coolant dripping all over on the ground under the sled . Something bad has happened . I let it cool down and went slow to the nearby road . To make a long story short . Got it loaded on a trailer, took it to the dealer 1 hour away . Now I wait to see whats going on with my baby.....darn it!!

called them today ....they havent had a chance to look at it ......... and there goes my vacation . I wanted to ride it all week but, not this time . so , I took the cover off ol bessy ....put her down on the pond .....shes still got it !!....I will keep you posted on what happened to the Vector.

If you dont want to drop the cash on new skies Put on some Dulies or tripple points . and shim your skies back, pull the strap one hole. see how that works. We run one Dulley on the right and a 6 inch Carbide single on the left, it seems to help with the pushing.
