my experience with a alpine turbo by powderlites

I'm not dialed in for top end with a 144" track, monkey bars hanging 4ft in the sky and no windscreen

I'm sorry you had a poor experience with the kit, its unfortunate and I hope it works out for you.

Need for Speed;
Please don't consider this picking a fight I'm not. I know Jeff Simon and have seen his kit another freind of mine's Apex. He bought one to trail ride on pump gas at 8 psi and was sold the smaller turbo and rightfully so. Jeff makes a nice kit and they run well.
I built a Alpine kit for a customer of mine and would take him on any day any time. I set this sled up and specified a 28rs in the kit. The sled was a 07 Attack long track and weighed in on my digital scales at 682lbs. with 2 gals of gas, not a light weight for sure.
The sled is wicked fast well beyond even my expectations. I set it up at 14lbs and would run anyone on ice or snow. Its all in the setup!!!!
Don't judge a book by its cover. Either kit can run if it's set up correctly.
The problem I see with the small turbo is when you get a taste of 8 lbs your going to want more and I know a 2560 will make more boost but the 28RS is much happier in the 14 to 18 lb range on a Apex.
Hope you and Dean can work out your problems, You need to get it right, don't give up on Alpine, Good Luck :flag:

well guys i said i would post if positivity come to play. dean from alpine and myself are negotiating at this time. ill post the end results. im hoping we can end this positively. another note guys dont think for a minute a 28rs turbo is suited for sealevel riding on pump gas. its way out of its range at those lower boost #s. minus 20 the air is very dense compared to 0 at 8-10000foot elevation. ted has revealed a big part of my problem.

your saying the turbo is to big? I thought you said you had no top end? And as far as me saying what you'd expect I'm just stating facts 95% of the people with the same kit are loving it thats why it seems funny yours is a lemon. Prob is one guy like you gets on and bashes it and the other 95% dont get on and praise theirs. Gives people the wrong impression, alpine /powderlites have a great kit, because you get on here and bash it dont change the fact their kit rocks!

I don't think anyone is arguing in the mountains they have a great kit and I fully 100% beleive that they work fine in the mountains.

Difference is where we are the air is alot different and we do things alot different you guys would never think of going 130 + mph with your sleds and we run into problems when doing so.

First is from my own testing the filter behind the windshield does not work at high speed and I GAINED mph from moving the filter under the hood.

Second is the exhaust dump to tunnel at your speeds its not a problem but we need to have a rear exit the track builds to much pressure in the tunnel and starts to force air back into the exhaust effectively attempting to stall the compressor.

No intention of bashing here at all just trying to inform the steep and deep guys we are doing stuff alot differnt and the kit was never tested down at sea level for speed and trail riding. We are our own R&D because no one knew what to expect form these kits and sea level and they had a few issues that after a few weekends of playing I am finally pleased with the performance of mine. Finally run some MPH with mine so I know its now working the way it should have.

I have good fuel box numbers for others as well if needed.

Customer service

Well I was sledding yesterday and wow lots of opinons on this topic!
Over foot of fresh powder so you guys out east really get in bad mood cause season is over for you.
Kev. and others here have some good ideas and complains too.
It's what I do with a problem that is going to resolve it and make it work right. I am far from perfect but I do try to improve and make a better product and I can take a potshot and I will try to always learn to build a better product.
Kevin you should know how hard it is to make header as well as other parts.
I built that header with your material 321 stainless mandrel bends and still don't think it is a good as my own design.
As far as GT2560 turbo working on Apex it will have lots of problems for hard riding and don't run high boost with it.
GT2554 and GT2560 are same exhaust housing and turbine!
GT2854 will be better for low boost apex. Less pressure on header and not going to detonate as fast.
EFI boxes have been really bad this year and we are replacing them free and working on making them better.
As far as power compared to everyone else's kit I think we are right on the money for HP and would run against all others out there.
PowderLites programing on the box even makes Boondockers and Mc guys run better then there own box.
How about EFI box running on wide band?
How does cam timming work when done right?
We all will be better at making kits and making customers happy if there is a buddy whooping your a$$.

sled

Dave if you were to have a efi box that runs off a wideband it would not respond quik enough so you would run into problems going on and off the throttle.

mike how do you get these percentage numbers of happy customers. second taking shots at me to retain your status with your sponsors is cheap. as for my kit ill explain it slow to you. missing peices. parts not machined ready for installing. those are facts you cant deny period. no matter who installs the kit. QUALITY CONTROL seperates 1st class vendors from ones that are just selling parts.

I think its time, since Custom and Powder are looking at helping you along with Dean that you need to take your problems to the source.
