A box showed up in the mail today with my rear heat exchanger kit. Man is it ever a beautiful heat exchanger. It's relatively flat with two aluminum hoses (with mounting brackets welded to them) coming out of the front.
I should weigh it and see how much weight it adds. I am guess it weights 5-7 lbs? The instructions are very well written and say the cooling system will take another 800cc of fluid.
You have to cut the current cross over tube off with a hacksaw or something similar. Then you hook this one up after you do so, rivet it in place and refill the system. Hey for $85 it's a very nice kit. I'd highly recommned it to anyone who has experienced an overheating problem. PB

I sure hope mine shows up soon, I ordered mine Jan 22, still a
haven't seen it. My dealer keeps saying "we ordered it yeasterday and it should be here tomorow"

Mine is in as well - hopefully I will be able to pick it up this weekend.

Installed my rear heat exchanger last night. It sure looks nice and it looks like it will do the job whith no problem. Sure is a nice kit and great instuctions for Yamaha not having any problem. Out of the whole installation, the only problem I had was for the 2 rivets that replace the ones that get drilled out, my gun wouldn't fit the nails.

rx1mtn -

I got my kit this weekend, but have not installed it yet - do you think this kit would work with an aftermarket tunnel extension from Holz, Hartman, or MPI? It looks like it will, I was thinking of negating the weight increase of the exchanger by going with a new tunnel ext......

Well... I see you three must have gotten Yamaha's entire run of new heat exchangers for this year.
Maybe I will be one of the lucky three next year!
Yamaha needs to seriously think about firing the person in charge of parts and inventory controll and get someone that knows what they are doing.

PB lets see some pics. Also get it on a scale, I'd like to know exactly what it weighs.

The only way that you can order these coolers, is thru your dealer and they have to get their rep. involved and they will need your V.I.N. I was told that these coolers are limited but should be avalible for ALL mountain sleds.
This cooler should fit any RX1 Mountain or Warrior with no problem, even if it has a differant tunnel extention.
This cooler is mounted right where the rear cross over tube mounts, and also 7 extra mount rivets in the extention.
I do have pictures that I will tri to put on this site tonite.
I was also told that Yamaha is going to install these coolers on the 05 sleds. I not sure why they would do that though, because Yamaha dosn't have a problem with overheating. Don't belive them? Just ask them.

I bet 05's have the rear cooler but no exchangers in the running boards.

based on the design of the rear cooler that I got with my kit, I think the 05's will still have the running board coolers. The kit just replaces the crossover tube between the running board coolers with a baffled heat exchanger.

Maybe someone who is going to a show could check this out????

JDKRXW, I sure hope the 05's retain the running board heat exchangers. They are one of the nicest features on a Yamaha. I get a kick out of watching my non Yamaha riding buddies continually kicking the snow and ice out of their footwells. RX FUN
