Hey Guys,
I need to replace my slides BAD...I purchased an EZ slide tool to remove them and when I thread it in, it just pulls out and messes up the slide end...The surface I need to thread the tool in is all broken up now. I am doing it in extreme cold, could that be the problem?? HELP!!!!!!!!!!!! Frank R.

Hey,
Yes, I removed the screws at the front of the slides... I am going to bring the sled to work and let it sit in the warm shop and try it there.. I'll keep everyone posted on what happens. Frank.

I just replaced both skid rails this weekend as I had burnt through my slides and into my rails. I couldnt even get the old slides off of the old rails without beating them with the claw end of a hammer.

Obviously you are not going to do that on a good set of rails, but I'm just saying mine felt like they were glued on and took excessive force to get them off. So you're not the only one.

Hey,
I hope they are not that hard to get off...They are worn pretty bad and worn through completely where the slide rails bend up at the front...I'll keep you posted. Frank.

If I cannot get the slides off I have cut the sides with a utility knife to take the pressure off. Just try not to cut too deep and into the rail.

I hope they don't look like mine...

A couple of tricks are to get really hot water and pour them over each rail...that will free up any ice stuck in them. Next spray a lubricant on them to gt between the plastic and metal.(I also put it on them when reinstalling) Next Take a large punch, one too big to drive through plastic but small enough to fit into screw hole at front of slide and strike with a small sledge with puch angled toard rear of track. Then take a small piece of wood and rest against rail and pound slide through track. slides are slightly larger than track holes so spray with lubricant. Hope this helps.

No, mine don't look that bad! My rail isn't worn at all. Thanks for all the help guys! I plan on working on the sled wednesday after work. Thanks again! Frank.

I warm the slides up with a torch and spray a can of silicone spray on the top and on the track window and slide them out.

Guys,
I got them out. They were worn REAL bad and got kind of 'fused" to the rails ( in 750 miles by the way:(..Had to pry them off. Lubed up the new ones and slid them in..Drifts here I come!!!!!!!!!!!!
