hey guys I just installed a MBRP exhaust on my 08 nytro and I have the POP noise, from what I've been reading I'm running lean,
I looked for the white clip in the noise cone but I have so much ice build up in there I cant find it,
so my question is can I run the sled (hard) with out adjusting the fuel mixture or is it going to damage something?
I'm going on a long ride tomorrow and I dont want to do any harm to the sled,
PS. I have searched and found nothing as to whether its safe to run like this.
Thanks
J-P

I think you're fine. Mine pops and I have the stock exhaust. You're just hearing it more now that you have an open exhaust.

The 3 cyl motors are notorius for the popping noise, I wouldn't worry at all. My XTX has twin pipes on it, and the popping is very noticible. Nothing to worry about.

Honest question. I've paid no attention to the computer functions and engine sensors on the XTX. What safeties are built in to prevent engine damage? I'd assume there's a temp sensor and wouldn't be surprised if there's a detonation sensor. These engines are sophisticated. I'd expect the computer controls to be sophisticated as well.

They are sophisticated, but it's still a simple efi system that doesn't have a ton of sensors, therefore doesn't recieve the feedback of a system with and o2 sensor. A huge step above carbureted, but still not a Lexus...

I think it's all in the timing... My Grizzly 700 was the same thing... It had a pop at about 30mph, almost a miss... Never could get it out.. Even with a PCIII, it would not go away..
Sled Freak, and others on this thread. I talked to Allan Ulmer on this poping issue and what's causing it is the ENGINE BRAKE REDUCTION SYSTEM. He said their is nothing to worry about. For those of you who have the POWER Com. there is a new map that adds more fuel and helps cure this. Aftermarket exhaust really enhances the POP like others have stated. Hope this helps, THANKS! 1050THMPRSledFreak said:I think it's all in the timing... My Grizzly 700 was the same thing... It had a pop at about 30mph, almost a miss... Never could get it out..
