Bunch of family at my place for Xmas ridin and checking out my XTX. Watched son in law start sled and warm it up for a ride. After sleds warm he walks up and blips the throttle a cpl times before climbing on. Well about the time he blipped enough to engage clutchs, throttle sticks and sled shoots about 10ft into a small tree. Impact on left side a arm and ski ,snapped spindle off at ski bolt. Off coarse the a arm is pushed back and shock did make contact with rear arm but is now sitting with about 1" clearance. Going to start pulling it apart to get full assessment. Main question is, the sled did not make all that hard of impact maybe 5 mph but could not drive sled. Because yellow light blinking, engine light blinking, and motor just surges, will not rev up enough to engage clutch, must be some kind of limp mode. Did a visual looking for a harness plug or connector that might have popped loose but didn't find anything. New to these 4 strokes. Any suggestions?

Do you have insurance? Not tryin to scare ya but you listed a lot of things and you almost guaranteed got the subframe too. Not sure about the code though. That's sucks man

Does the throttle lever seem to be working freely, properly? My guess is whatever caused your throttle to stick in the first place is your issue.

Approx $8-900.00 in parts. I suggest you let your ex son in law take it in or pay your deductible.
Just kidding sounds like your TOR's has come on due to a frozen cable..

Be sure to check the subframe. Probably tweaked it. As previously mentioned it may be a perfect time to file a claim and insure all is fixed. Good luck.
Don't remember a code flashing, just remember the left hand yellow light flashing and the yellow outline of motor flashing and the motor surging and not able to add any throttle, just surges alittle higher but won't go high enough to engage. Pretty nieve about these 4 strokers as I just bought this last spring and have been building mod mtn climbers for last 20yrs but just had to have a 4 stroke before I retire from ridin. Wifey was givin me crap because I have like 12 sleds but nothing to bang around on the lake we live on (mtn sleds have 21/2 in lugs and I race vintage so most of my other sleds are mod racers).
My manual for sled was at my shop so I will be bringing sled in tomorrow to assess the damages better, just really perplexed on that warning light/surging thing. Out mtn riding we have completely torn a arm assemblies off sleds, completely twisting bulkhead, and still rednecked a fix and rode them back in over rugged back country. This was basically a 10ft little surge into a 5" tree at rpm just over clutch engagement, WOW!! I can see the spindle breaking at ski bolt as the skis were turned hard right so side of ski hit first, the a arm made contact just in a cpl inches from spindle, sled spun track, pivoting around tree until he found kill sw.
I see some front bulkhead reinforcement kits by forum member, are there also kits to help straighten out a slightly tweaked bulkhead?
Insurance maybe the way to go $500 deductable on collision, as my ice drag season is just about ready to start & I have 4-5 race sleds to get tuned in and not enough time.
Thanks so much guys!

If sub frame is tweaked, does motor have to come out? Also, if I do end up taking it to Yami shop, do I want all factory put back in or do I ask if I can have a beefed up sub frame by someone on this forum or after market?
Anyone have a left hand spindle sitting around they want to part with cheap?
Also, if TORS does code out as it probably did because throttle was sticking, does it reset itself when problem is cured or do you have to do something to reset. Throttle did act normal, no free play & motor starts/idles, after impact?

To straighten your subframe you can use a snipe or a large pry bar between your arms, motor stays in even on a subframe swap. Grizz sells gusset kits that can be welded on while still on the machine. There is no reset button for codes or lights, An adjustment or rectification must happen for lights out. As for spindle put an ad in the wanted section of the classified here or check with hibshman25. Guaranteed he'll have the parts. By the way update your profile and fill out your location, and what year and model is your sled?

I added grizz gusset kit to a new subframe that i was able to have yamaha provide me after long conversations. I merely had the dealer perform the swap. The engine does not need to be removed to swap out the subframe.

My dad ran my sled into a tree last year at a slow speed twisted the subframe bent a arms and cracked hood and shroud I claimed it but it would've been $4800 to fix. I would also say it's the tors mine came on after it hit the tree I just squeezed the throttle hard when it was off then it was fine. As others have said contact grizz and others in the forsale or wanted adds
Great Info
Thanks Kyleg, made up my mind for me, thats what I've been paying insurance all these yrs for, right? Would love to tear into this sled and learn more about it but racing season is here & also riding season, time to be ridin, not wrenchin.
Great info guys, sure appreciate takin time to type!
