New 11 Apex. Need to get to work fixing the darting. Help?

I have hit many rocks in the area that I sled in (Bruce Peninsula) and the Snow Trackers are still solid with no bends. You can order them from Royal Distributing.

I know the experts here will disagree but I put 6inch double down snow studs on and I couldn't be happier, darting is gone and the ride has improved 100% for a little over a $100 dollars. Forget new skis these things work.

No problem here with Snow Trackers bending on rocks etc.

I will not disagree on the double downs since that is one I have not tested.

I just know the extra $100.00 or less for Snow Trackers vs most dualies is not a lot of money on a relative basis and the extra little bit of cash is well worth it iMHO.

Not only gets rid of the darting but the control is much better and the pushing much less.

Ok, so to get more ski pressure to make whatever I decide to buy work, I pull the limiter straps up one and level the a arms. Anything else I need to do? Want as much ski pressure as possible if i go with something less aggressive than the snow trackers. It was easy with the Doo. Little bit of a learning curve with this one!

Close to 15,000 kms on 4 sets of Snowtrackers, Semi & Extreme, hit lots of rocks ect, never bent anything. Dooley's work great for darting but depending on how aggressive you ride, in my expierience duel runners understeer too much for my liking! The Snowtrackers just turn and NEVER dart!!!

I agree with the Double Downs! I put them on my wifes Vector LTX with stock skis & she loves them more than she loves me!

I think I only put 4" bars on it too!

All great info guys. I guess I need to make a decision. Can anyone provide a link to where I can order the snow trackers? Rode 200+ miles today. Love the sled. Hate the darting. Do you guys with the snow trackers find the outside blades can bend if you hit a rock in the trail?

Another vote here for snowtrackers.
For you guys that have them with an apex, do they make the sled steer lighter at the bars?
Trail riding with mine on the XP the steeriing is now VERY light yet agressive conering...it is a bizarre combo.

My thoughts after reading all your posts are this. My wife rides the Apex 90% of the time and I ride the Doo 90% of the time. She is anything but aggressive in the corners. Just cruises. She's not into shifting her body weight or leaning, she just lets the power steering do it's job. Therefore, I'm thinking that the snow trackers may be too aggressive for her and that standard dual carbides may work just fine. However, since it's such a small difference in price after spending this much already I may as well go with the best. I guess it's down to either the snow trackers or a set of Simmons Gen 1 skis with 6"ers on each. What would you guys pick if money wasn't a concern?

The aggressiveness comes into play when you are pushing hard into the corners. The Snow Trackers really shine with aggressive driving in most all snow conditions. However, under normal trail cruising they are still as comfortable and as predictable as you can get. Its been my experience, especially with the power steering, that it doesn't seem to matter what the trail or snow conditions are...the steering is like driving your car along any road. If this is for your wife, get her the best. She will love you for it.

SO what's the best? Snow trackers or simmons skis?

I can't speak for Simmons Skis. Never tried them. There is nothing wrong with the factory skis on the new 2011 Apex...in fact they have been redesigned for the power steering along with geometry changes in the suspension. The Semi Agressive Snow Trackers work extremely well with them.

I have seen posts in the past where some have complained that they still have darting with Simmons skis on their Apex. Some have even put Snow Trackers on them after spending the money on the Simmons skis. There are way too many posts of people spending hundreds of dollars on various after market skis and still not completely resolved the darting and/or pushing in the corners.

Again, my personal experience is that the Snow Trackers have provided me with the steering and handling I've always hoped for. Does that make the Snow Trackers the best...in my experience, yes.

Thank you Dasher. Guess I will go that route and order today. My only real concern with the snow trackers was them being easier to damage than standard dual carbides but from what I'm reading, that doesn't appear to be the case. I wonder if the 2012 ski redesign will actually be better or more of the same?
