From what my dealer has told me what you say is very accurate. Only time will tell if Yamaha chooses to do anything about their position. I still remember the 5 new sleds and 5 new motors in the next 5 years at the 2014 Viper intro, promising all they are in sleds for the long term??????????
The problem with the 5 new sleds and 5 new motors statement is how yamahs bends that statement to fit thier needs.
For instance a viper 129, 137, 141, and viper mountain can all be called different sleds according to yamaha.
Throw in a dealer installed turbo and its 5 new sleds if thats the game they want to play
In my opinion if they share the same motor and chassis then they are the same sled with different track lengths.
Yamaha is probably referring to the changes made to the viper motor as a new motor and i disagree.
Its the same motor with changes/updates. Its all a word game and in my opinion it is very very disappointing.

I have sat in the new S x S and looked it over really well. It's nice and just what that crowd wants. I'm thinking a bucket seat with 5 way harnesses are not what I'm looking for. The 2 seater has been tried by Ski Doo and it flopped !! Give us a new SLED !!My buddy is convinced a new sled is in this pic..

I agree totally. A couple years back they renamed the Phazer long track and called it a new sled, no changes except the name. But motors? I can see them calling the 2016 1049 a new motor, and even calling the turbo new, they are that way. But they still owe us a couple. IMO they need to do something or just become a motor supplier. The Viper is a very nice sled but the motor was just dropped in, the chassis was not engineered to accept the motor, it sits too high. There is a lot of room for improvement. The Viper just shows how behind the real Yamaha's were/are. Can anyone remember a magazine comparison where the Yamaha was picked as the favorite? The problem with the 5 new sleds and 5 new motors statement is how yamahs bends that statement to fit thier needs.

24K miles
How about a rear engine chassis with a 4S in it? Single rider?
How's THAT for a game changer?

I didn't want to come across as critical SORRY . I was just showing the book exists.

For anyone that wants the references to numbers I stated in a previous post. I apparently gave Yamaha way too much credit by stating they have a 10% market share as well as shortchanging the 4-stroke market by 5%. LOL

Thanks for the info. I cant really read the first pic what are the market share numbers?? 25% 4 stroke market share is kind of poor i thought it be higher like 35%. What year was that from? You're right it does exist. View attachment 115692View attachment 115693View attachment 115694View attachment 115695
I not sure if its all to do with being a 4 stroke or just that they cost more???
