Why are some against a turbo 3 cylinder? Have they not ridden a proper turbo before?
I would not be against a turbo three hole if it was built for one. Unlike the f11T Suzuki motor which is specifically built for the Turbo, detonation sensor etc.

The 4 circles in the sand could also represent a square 4cyl

All of the Yamaha engines are great. But in a sled you either break the 150ish hp barrier with rpm or compression. Can't do it with displacement (weight and size). So it's either 12k rpm (Apex), a S/C, or turbocharging. With power being equal turbos rank #3 for reliability, response, and sound. I'd pick my N/A XTX along with the S/C Nytro (Stage I) I've rode, over the turbo Viper I had seat time on last season. And Yamaha is an engine builder first.

maybe they came up with a horizontal engine to keep the weight low

I typed sidewinder snake tracks into a google image search.
Nothing even close to the pic posted on chris's blog.
Dont mean it is not going to be called sidewinder. Just looks absolutely nothing like it.

It must have not been a Hurricane Turbo...the throttle response is as good as it gets....and I have ridden many an ApexAll of the Yamaha engines are great. Wonder if it's a boxer style motor like porsche and Subaru uses, never mind thought about it they sound like #*$&@. but never know the plan
i think yamaha can put 300hp or more into a jet ski with no problem so why not a sled, they would just have to keep weight up there to keep it on the snow lol !!!

They say the competitors will be in the snow dust.. I wonder did they realize Doo was working on a 850cc etec with 180 horsepower? I love my Viper but i only bought it because I wanted more power.. now I can have more power and about 100 less pounds, plus other deep snow riding enhancements... Yamaha better rock the world I they want to keep me. It would be nice if there was a little more difference from a mountain sled to a trail other than width and trac too.
