I've read EVERY word in this thread (ocd). I have to admit that i'm having a blast! I'm gonna read every word after release to see who's crowing & who's crying. I know one thing for sure...some will still bitch no matter what they do...taxes, death & people bitchin'...the only sure things in life...

They could build best of the best and guaranteed Somone would not be happy just how it is I guess , but to me it's all fun because lots of times the insider info turns out not so much good times though

It could be a 300 lb 200hp rocket that handles like a formula 1 car on any possible snow condition and someone would piss and moan it didnt come in their favorite color . Cant please em all ...

If it's a 300 lb 200hp rocket that handles like a formula 1 car on any possible snow condition and it doesn't come in blue - that's the last straw!

so I was just doing some digging around. and I remember the post that CR did and he had a picture of 4 circles in the sand. I typed in google "sidewinder snake sand markings" and went to images first picture was the one CR posted. so pretty sure the name of the new sled has to be sidewinder. Also definition of a sidewinder snake is fast and agile.

I gave alot of thought to that pic also and looked up images of sidewinder tracks which didn't really look much like it. That brought me to the idea of an offset junction where 4 arms come together and are able to pivot. Hence, I sticking with my articulated front geometry "guess".so I was just doing some digging around. and I remember the post that CR did and he had a picture of 4 circles in the sand. They are saying some pretty brave things about what's coming. If it's a phazer motor in viper chassis it won't live up to any hype. If it's turbo viper it won't live up to any hype. If it's apex motor in viper it will be a meh reaction. If it's what I'm expecting and that's like what poo did with the rush to axis. It's many new parts, variation or revised single shot possibly, new rider position (cpl inches up and forward maybe), revised 4stroke chassis that fits the triple properly, new bodywork that allowed better view of skis and ground and leg clearance. Not sure about if much motor wise, titanium, magnesium, plastics, carbons etc to drop 5-10lbs? power steering, dampners, new electronics and drive lines possiable.
The procross has nice lines and a nice looking sled. They may not wanna change a winning look, (cats had lots of physical failures, firecat, dual spar as of late)

I think it will be high horsepower. Think about it....Cat has ALWAYS led the horsepower wars and now the Suzuki 1100 is gone. Is Cat going to go with a new 800 2 stroke as their high heater....NO!! Who is there new engine supplier/best bud...Yamaha. The next Cat top dog will be a turbo charged Yamaha four stroke OR a 180 hp NA four stroke and Yamaha will piggyback on that with their new sled. Maybe a new Yamaha chassis with a lower horsepower engine just for the Yamaha division to boot.

I agree. If it's a Procross chassied "Apex" with a turbo on the current 3cyl.- I might vomit. I will only accept boost if its a S/C or a thoroughbred high-rpm turbo triple.
To your point, Yamaha did remove 9 pounds from the new R1 engine with magnesium covers. Apply to the current 58mm stroke 4 cyl., direct inject, raise compression, hot cam and they are at ~180hp. Would it really be that hard for Yamaha to find another 40 or so pounds to remove from the current Apex, restyle, plus revised ergonomics and suspension? I don't think so.

Why are some against a turbo 3 cylinder? Have they not ridden a proper turbo before?

I agree. AC loves to be highest HP manufacturer. With Yamaha right there, it's a no brainer. They probably redid chassis to actually fit the Yam motor & with turbo they're back on top, even more power than 9000. I think everyone believes this to be the case, but i also believe there's other things coming. This is where the speculation comes in & the LONG HORRIBLE wait...I think it will be high horsepower. Think about it....Cat has ALWAYS led the horsepower wars and now the Suzuki 1100 is gone. Is Cat going to go with a new 800 2 stroke as their high heater....NO!!
