190hp with the same Viper engine with those lovely rods! Nice..I was just told yesterday from general manager at dealer the new sled will be 190 hp factory turbo in current viper chassis. He was told direct from the rep who will be riding them next week in Wisconsin.
I'm not holding my breath, but if this turns out true??!?!

Going by Hurricane's post IMHO I think Yamaha got a bad batch and just decided to go with it, that's why some 16's are blowing and some not. If they use the hardened chrome molly rods going by Hurricane's post that motor should be fine at 190hp.190hp with the same Viper engine with those lovely rods! Nice..

I have 2 vipers one turbo and one n/a. And i enjoy them. But i would never buy them again. Ive seen too much success with two stroke turbos lately to be bothered with another heavy Yamacat.
Don't be mad because you can't afford one, a 4 stroke that is. And maybe the new Brp 850 will have big horsepower, but only in the parking lot, as soon as you start to climb that mountain, it will be all downhill from there.Lol

The boosted triple in Cat Pro Cross chassis rumor seems to be gaining some traction. Doesn't seem to justify the "ain't seen nothin' yet" comments. BUT, if there was a major Yammy inspired update to the Cat chassis to go along with it, then it might be something worth the hype.
Sorry to say it but me too. Will always be on a Yamaha for the big miles but intend on buying a 2 smoke for beating on off trail and ditches. I suspect the new Yamaha will be all cat except for motor/color. Even clutches. It does make sense. Still hoping YAMAHA makes a xc/sx competitive 4st but not holding my breath anymore.

Lots of us using the new yz450fx for snow biking , big stator, yz motor and e-startYeah YZ or WR, have heard the snowbike guys like YZ MX'ers for the close ratio trannys vs the WR, but either one.

Pdiddy I agree with you, however, how many times did they get big hype and then the next week after the release the comments ranged from "that's it!" To "Yamaha will never get my money again"

Oufff hope you are wrong about the clutches!

Good luck riding anything in Wisco after that rain and warm weather... If they're riding it would be: out west, da UP, or CanadaI was just told yesterday from general manager at dealer the new sled will be 190 hp factory turbo in current viper chassis. Not necessarily, they could use the Actic cat 880 with there HPDI fuel system. So Yamaha completely retooled for 2s engines. I don't think so.

I would like to see them break away from cat. I almost wonder in the agreement Yamaha can't tamper with anything that differs from cat at the time...I have a hard time believing a company that built the nytro that has kicked so much #*$&@ and is having a problem with making a stock sled going faster then what is it 96mph? Just hard to believe you know? I want to know when the "deal" is up does Yamaha get to keep the chassis?

I'd like to see Yamaha come with a factory turbo on the sled! Not a extra 4-5g on top of the new sled......that would get people buying! Lol

I'll take 1 more shot at this ..lol... Yes Yamaha is capable of building, engneering, setting up tooling & mfg for a snomo 2s. This would take big bucks from Yamaha that does not believe snomo future is 2s engines. If EPA chooses to tighten snomo emisson standards doo, AC & poo will be scrambling to comply with their injected 2s that are not reliable now. Yamaha, imo, is not going the way of 2s now or in the near future not their long term snomo objective. Look for new 4s engines &/or super chargers & turbos for new 4s products. You can certainly hope & dream of a new Yamaha sled with a 2s engine but at this time in their snomo div biz cycle just does not make sense to me. It has been 14 years since the RX1 and you think Yamaha is closer now to mfg snomo 2s?? I sure don't but doesn't matter what I think we all will know in 10 days.
