NEW 4-STROKE AT THE SHOOTOUT

Impressive performance from the Viper! I thought XR 1200 was a faster sled..

I agree about the viper, but the indys are even more impressive.

Now the 1200 doo is severely limited by a single throttle body and a restrictive exhaust. That's evident to anyone who has ridden the doo 4s. It just need to be uncorked. I'm kind of amazed skidoo has not made a hotter version of it yet.

Nice to see the Viper stomped the competition!

In its competition, yes it is. Especially since the car version is using most of the same hardware. It's a half second faster than the cat with the same motor and chassis.

By the looks of the times it looks like the sleds were run in the grass. Compare to past results in the snow.

Previoius Results on Snow

2012 AC XF 1100 turbo 12.91@96.02
2012 AC F800 13.08@94.03
2009 Nytro 13.05@91
2012 Apex 13.06@98.4
2012 Rush 800 13.59@90.21

But with different clutches.

Soooo why no Apex? American snowmobiler hasnt come yet..

Probably cause nobody cares.
Basically, it,s been the same since 2006, and maybe even sooner.
Bold new graphics can only take you so far. LOL
I,ve got an 07 Apex RTX, and love it.
Yamaha is trying to hype the Viper, so maybe less is more in that direction.

Over on the Viper forum I also mentioned this:

Is White Lake still doing the Polaris setups?

If so I think that has alot to do with it. It would be like having Hauck Power Sports setting up the Yamaha's. I think those guys know how to setup a Poo.

The Indy's do look like a nice machine.....best bang for the buck. What are the prices this year for a 600 and a 800?

Polaris have spot on clutching. Pretty much always have.

The base non so 600 is 7999. The 800 I think it's only in SP form and it's like 10500
The 600 etec too starts at 10300 as I don't think you can get the mxz sport with an etec.

I though the two times listed here was for the two stock runs. Are you saying the first is the stock and the second is the dealer clutch/jet setup?

All true, but it would more than likely give top numbers in the runs.....(old sled eh?)

Rumour has it that this was part of the agreement with Cat.

In order to get access to the Procross Chassis Yamaha had to agree not to bring a Vector or an Apex to the Shootout this year.

Cat was getting embarrased with the Ape running with or beating their 177 Turbo and the Vector whooping up on everyones 600's .

:drink: ; ^ )

White Lake Polaris has been out of business for a few years now, at least 3-4 years.
