AMERICAN SNOWMOBILER SHOOT-OUT RESULTS

I'm not trying to make excuses for the dealer - but by the sounds/looks of it there was very little snow there for the shootout. They did the out of the box runs first right? Maybe the track conditions after the other runs factors in somehow?

yes and no.....as many of the other brand sleds usually get quicker and faster after dealer 'prep'!!!!!!!!
 
If they gave the apex more air with the buulseyes then that makes sence why it was slower. Stock form they r very lean, so whats gona happen when u make them even more leaner..... they get slower. Thats what happend to mine. Then i aded the pc5 and it made it a beast. Huge diffrence. Stock apex is way to lean as is. :o| :die :drink:
 
From what they were saying on HCS, was that the track was turning to mud, once they started to hit the dirt, after the snow left. Got warmer and conditions deteriated during the day

If D&D worked on it, then you know it was tuned well... In one run, there D&D Turbo ran 110mph and then earlier ran 118. So conditions changed and depending when they ran the dealer prep runs, it would explain why they were low on times/speeds..

You have to remember the Apex would really not change much until you got some miles on it. That motor is extremely tight with 0 miles on it.


I would not read to much into this result. We all know the Apex is fast, but is really dependent on conditions.

Yes I was in Martin and the sled you are talking about is Billy Howards sled and it was far from stock. I've known Billy for a long time and is a top tuner but that sled had a pipe, can, powercommander, Y-pipe. The sled was lightened up considerably so that helps a lot the ones at the shootout were full weight sleds on dirt.


Befotre he added all the stuff the thing flew.He had ran it stock and then started adding stuff.

I was also there. I am pretty sure that 118 MPH was in 660'. The prepped Cat was pushing 330 horses on the dyno. Correct me if I am wrong.

Out of all the sleds the most impressive....the Vector. Beat the F1100 NA by 10 seconds.

Glenn Hall rode a D&D prepared Arctic Cat XF 1100 Turbo to the top speed posted at the 22nd Annual American Snowmobiler/Dynotech New York Shootout.

Exploding off the line early Friday afternoon Hall posted a 119.68 mph run in 1,000 feet on a snow-starved track at our Woodgate, N.Y. location. Low snow conditions in the Adirondacks left us with a frozen track, but just a light dusting of snow to cool the sleds on their runs and give them proper lubrication for the hyfax. That kept the stocker's top speeds down a bit as they ran full ¼-mile test runs and their top speeds tended to peak out before the full run. The smell of hyfax was certainly in the air!

I stand corrected then. That damn announcer was a d-bag then and didnt know what the hell he was talking about. I swear on my life he said 660' but glad someone cleared it up. Sorry bout the misinformation
 
I heard there wasn't any Performance Shops there besides D&D racing? What Happened to that event, I remember everybody showed from at least the North East...It was to me the best part of the Day
 
I think with the new cat the performance shops are thrashing to dail in sleds that they just got or are still waiting on. Surprisingly everybody is pretty busy compared to years past at this time.
 
I think we are all used to the Yamaha's doing worse in dealer prep by now. That's why I only look at the out of box numbers.

I had to laugh too at the HCS forums totally looking past the Vector and declaring the Poo 600 the winner.

One question on the 800 class. Doesn't Doo still have the break in chip? Was the Doo's chip at break in or not? If so ,was the Apex sitting at almost no miles? Now I know the Doo will run better after the break in chip is met....but we all know the 4 stroke Yammies get stronger with miles too. In that case I would love to see how all of these machines fair after 1000 miles, then 2000.......LOL! how about 10,000??
