Same weight profile! They change the 4,5gr tip rivet for .85gr. Personally i am realy not impressed by their "upgrade kit"Can anyone comment how the pink spring compares to the TP orange? I bought the orange and installed over the summer, no run time yet. How do the SRX primary weights compare to the 2018 primary weights? Shape, weight, both?
They still use the same shitty primary Spring( to long, coil to small=spring distortion )
i am aware since december 2016, yamaha seems not 2 years later"...WTF

Thx, but is that a typo? 4.5 GR to .85 GR? It's been a while since i messed with primary weights.... not sure if roughly 4 grams is a minor change or significant? less weight = slower/delayed shifting and less belt squeeze?Same weight profile! Interesting that they went the way @NOS-PRO did very early on with the helix. But it seems like a lot of guys have now gone with a regular progressive vs the reverse. Some seem to have success with 37/35, 39/35 and others. I'm as mystified as always.Progressive reverse angle 35/39
The pink secondary spring that is in the update has been around since 2003 in the RX-1.

The Yamaha weights with flatter shift curves take more weight to change the rpm compared to years ago.Normaly its about ~~~~~150rpm/gr 4 grams is a lot......

For example, adding 4 grams to the already very heavy four stroke weights with flat shift curves won't have near the effect as adding 4 grams to a former popular Yamaha weight like the 8DN-20

Big diff from stock HP vs 270++....Early spool Hurricane tunes can utilize a progressive helix, stock hp and whimpy tunes without early spool need less helix to help with spool corner to corner.Interesting that they went the way @NOS-PRO did very early on with the helix. Thanks for sharing. I picked one up at my dealer Friday and installed yesterday while performing my seasonal service. I'm at 580 Miles and blew a belt around 450. I took my time breaking it in too so hopefully this kit will add some belt life. Here is a sheet on the kit I got at the dealer.

I won't be getting this kit. At the start of last year before sled hit snow I installed TD's clutch kit, the kit includes heavy duty rollers and new primary and secondary springs. Ran the entire season on original belt and put 2380 miles on with NO issues. The only thing I changed for this season is making sure the clutches were aligned properly. Using the Hurricane tool I needed to add .015 thousands (.381mm) shim and it is spot on now. I'm stock and that makes a difference vs. a tuned up winder. I will be watching though with interest how this new kit from Yamaha performs this season.

You are first i've heard had to add a shim.....everyone else has had to machine off material.I won't be getting this kit. Well I forgot to say I removed the stock washer /shim which is close to 2 mm first then just needed to add the .381 mm shim...sorry.

Nope, guess I was lucky! Made sure as I measured and remeasured multiple times and always came up with same results. After setting the go no go tool for correct alignment I could push the secondary back towards the shaft circlip, although it was very slight it still moved. So I found these shims at Mcmasters with perfect I.D and O.D in .015 thous. (.318mm), .020 thous. (.510mm) and .025 thous. (.720mm). I have now aligned my winder and 3 vipers with one more winder to do.

If you ever remove the primary, recheck your offset after putting it back on. My SRX was at 58 before removing it and after torquing to spec,it was at 57.

Wow, makes me wonder if your primary is not torqued down? That is alot further out then all the others. Sounds like maybe 3 to 4mm difference from most of us. Interesting.Nope, guess I was lucky! Just for kicks, I would measure it the YAM way too, and see where you are. Just incase something is off somewhere else.....No need to post that measurement here, but PM if you like.
