New Dartless carbide

I run over the Canadian shield all the time and roads, tracks with my snowtrackers and they are the best bolt on carbide I have used. The cobras used to snap off the bolts that hold them on and jumped from someone's track to another.Snowtrackers are a lot easier to steer as well.I get about 3000Km from a set and on average, when there is no more carbide they works fine in groomed trails until you get into the ice.It seems to me that anyone that has used the snowtrackers says that they are the best and anyone that hasn't is still not sure about if $250.00 snowtrackers will fix all the steering issues with the Apex .Best money I ever spent on my sled in three winters.

I have cobra heads now. Will the snowtrackers mount in the same holes in the front of my skis that I have for the cobra heads?

I got the snowtrackers on venture Gt and they rock , no more darting ,the steering is lighter , I can drive with one hand no problem , I didnt think that would happen on a 4 stroke Yammie , best money I ever spent

Same here. Love my Snow Trackers. Went from SLP Powder Pros with the full Bergstrom setup. Triple Points, ski savers, shims. Now I am running stock skis with Snow Trackers. Night and Day difference in the darting and steering effort.

You will have to drill another hole for the snowtrackers to fit.

Was given a used set of Snowtrackers to try out from a friend.
Personally, I'm looking at these things and thinking 2 things...

1) They are gonna be REALLY unpredictable, they look so aggressive.
2) They aren't going to be real tough, as they look thin.
(They look tougher in person than the pictures on their site indicate.)

Well, after 1000 miles or so, here is what I've seen with the Snowtrackers.
(All these miles were on groomed or supposedly groomed trails.)

These things TRACK!
They go where you point them. Period.
The only time they haven't, has been on glare ice,
they pushed, same as every used carbide I have ever tried.

One of my fears was unpredictable behavior.
Can say that fear has vanished.
They have not once surprised me other than in a good way.
They have proven to be very predictable.

The Snowtrackers basically eliminate darting same as any dually has for me.
(My best over-all experience with duallys has been with the slim jims.)
(Why anyone would put up with darting is beyond me, get at least duallys & be done with darting.)

However, the Snowtrackers are much more precise when cornering in snow, they simply TURN well!

I started out with little to no ski pressure as I was fearful of them being too aggressive.
Turns out, it was an unfounded fear.
Had to put the ski pressure back in,
Then they really started to work, and work well!

As others have stated, they are easy to steer & I can even ride with one hand.
Not bad, no major compromises & they WORK!
(Actually, haven't seen a compromise yet.)

They also don't catch on Railroad tracks, they skip right over them.
One of my sets of duallys prior had caught on a set of tracks and broken my bulkhead.
If your carbide has a blunt leading edge, would suggest throwing them away and replacing them before they break your bulkhead.
(It's cheaper than a bulkhead.)

The Trackers look so aggressive, everyone that notices them, ask about them.
They all say they look scary aggressive.
(I thought so too, prior to using them.)

So far I have not damaged the Trackers.
Tend to ride pretty aggresive & will ride very marginal conditions with occasional rocks.
(No Snow Prima Donna here... lol)
They(I) have whacked rocks at some serious speeds.
(Worst case, figure I can always straighten them back with a big crescent wrench, but haven't had to yet.)
(Kinda funny, have gotten pretty good at sending rocks flying off the trail, I hit them with just the edge of my ski & off they fly! lol)

So far, so good.
Will be doing a close inspection this week & see how they faired from last week.
Will let you know!

Hope this helps!

Rock :-o

Question about the Snowtrackers....does anyone know if these will fit Slydog Race skis ? I need to find a solution to darting on groomed trails. Tried shims, toe in/out and neutral position, and nothing has worked well so far. Also, can I only get Snowtrackers from Yamaha ?

make dartless plates for the slydogs, same priciple

Check with apexfx first to see if he is making them for that model ski yet, you might be able to just buy them made. If not, they only take an hour or so to make from scratch and work great, I have them on powder hounds

What carbides do you have on your Slydogs?
I have only used the Shaper bars, so I can't compare other than to Yamaha skis & their 2" carbides, but I don't have any darting or tracking now. I also installed homemade ski savers right from the start to protect the ski keel so I don't know how that affects the handling but it does not seem to negatively. Like I have said before, the only issue I find is in crusty snow conditions when the skis have a mind of their own.

One other thought, for those arguing that the Snow trackers are a cheaper fix than buying new aftermarket skis; that only owes true if you are not concerned with improving flotation with wider skis. Also, I feel the wider skis perform better on softer trails because they won't sink and push all over the place like the tiny OEM skis.

BTW, I'm amazed how this thread was picked right up again after being stagnant for 14 months!! Great.

I guess that I will be getting a new set of cobras instead of drilling a second set of holes in my skis. I can't complain about the cobras other than the rear bolt snapped off on both of them. I have asked qualipieces about this issue.

It is only 1 additional hole towards the tip of the ski. Doesn't affect anything.

That is what was happening to me when I had the cobras.I welded them two times and got tired of replacing the bushing in the ski $7.00 each time.I filled the hole with silicon.
