I bought one of the original MBRP Viper mufflers. It cracked and was warrantied. I did not dislike the MBRP, but I wanted something with a bit softer tone so I sold the new MBRP at a loss and decided to try Ulmer's new Straightline unit. Initial appearances I'm quite impressed. I like the fact that it is coated to keep cool and also that it is double walled and to close off at the belly pan. The larger volume should help tone it down a little. Weight is 9.5# versus 8.5 on the old MBRP. The new one may have gained a few ounces with gussets etc.

I am really amazed at the quality of the Straight line stuff. I am putting their headers on both my sleds Cannot wait the 15 is all together except Ulmer is upgrading the turbo to a bigger one should be done on Tuesday! Let it Snow.

Very nice indeed. The only thing I would like to see added is a second spring to secure the can and rubber snug against the alum brace.
I'm hearing the lure of the turbo calling, but I guess I could do the header now it would compliment the turbo if I added later. I'm thinking regardless if it's header or turbo there will be a lot of ceramic coating added to keep the heat inside.
I'm kind of intrigued by the comments from Evo about eliminating the bellows.

I should note that my first order of business is to test out my gearing change with no further mods except for the can mfr swap. Then if there is time I'll push it further with the Ulmer intake and maybe a EVO reflash.

I installed the straight line muffler on my sled an it is not that loud on the jack stand in the garage. I will have to put all my gear on and how many miles I can get on my new sled in the garage.

I noticed the sound difference right away. The MBRP starts with a loud pop or snap where the Ulmer/SPI starts with authority and just as quick, but no pop. It also stays cooler with the ceramic coating.
TD who are you using for ceramic coating?

The Ulmer piece was already coated, but I have used Classic Coatings in the past. For the high end engine stuff I use Calico.
