Mind taking a picture of what you clearanced?.
STM called me today also and explained that some material will need to be removed to make that helix work. I will report how it fits the pro-4.

I wouldn't be messing around with that type of stuff. These clutches are beautiful pieces...and very expensive. If you have to start removing material to make certain things work...then that tells me they weren't meant to work on this piece. But that's just me. And then if you remove material and it's not to your liking....then what?

I dont believe it will be visible. I have already modified a $13k snowmachine, a $700 dollar secondary wont bother me too bad. Plus, you can always buy another roller plate.

I will add that if you are running the stock yamaha belt width you will never come even close to using the advertised finish angle of that helix. I’m running a 46/36 and the rollers never even get past the 40 degree mark. The only way to utilize the 36 finish angle is to run the 1.52” Skidoo belt and 11.5” secondary. Food for thought.

If I get a chance this weekend I'll pull the cover and take a snap, but its basically just beveling the 90 degree machine cut in the slots in the cover where the helix pops through. You can't see it from the outside, and its maybe 3 grams of material. If you have yours on the bench assemble it without the spring and open it up while making sure the rollers stay in contact with the helix and you'll see it. Simple easy peasy no big deal didn't even think of it type stuff.Mind taking a picture of what you clearanced?.

Not sure about a Yamaha set up but just because it doesn't bottom doesn't mean the angle isn't different if the finish angles between two helixes is different. Well, I installed the 43-32 helix and green spring and will test tomorrow. I cycled the clutch through its travel and did not see it hitting anywhere. Maybe the Pro-4 clutch is machined different than the STM? STM did refund the $75 fee for special angle cut.

What clutching changes do you recommend if using xs825? And if sled is stock?I was focused on width alone when posting so you may be right when stating how the length will affect deflection. I can attest that when I ran the 8dn belt, I had to adjust belt deflection, however my memory is fading and I cant remember if I had to add or subtract washers. All I know is I had to adjust......boy I hate getting old!
At any rate, the 8dn is one tough sob as noted, but slipped more than the 8jp and loss topspeed. Imo these 2 negatives outweighed the positives, but to each their own.
Be advised, imo deflection on the winder is not as crucial as it was years past. The old piston port triples needed perfect deflection or they would bog. The winder isn't that fussy. If in question, err on the side of caution and set belt deflection a little low vs a little high. Loss of performance is not noticeable and your top gear will thank you.
Lastly, the xs825 is a better choice in comparison to the 8dn or 8jp imo, albeit it requires big clutching changes to make it work.

The belt width can be a bit deceiving.
I measured all the brands last year then reported all the specs.
Then Professor KNAPP yelled at me because some of the belts "square" off the top edge making it measure thinner, but the belt part that actually touches the clutch, is the same.
P.S: The new improved KNAPP doesn't yell or argue anymore. He just goes silent. Like Hannibal Lector when the "quid pro quo" is over

Actually i should have some data this weekend on Stock to Mildly Tuned sleds using the XS compared to the 8JP.
I ground my weights down to see if i can get the RPM's up.
If it functions well at 8800 or so and belt temps stay reasonable with less belt dust & better grip, then i will go back next trip with 66 gram weights to get it to 9000 again.
I had planned to do this last trip, but it rained.
I'm calling this next trip SUPERBELT SUNDAY!
Just not sure i'll have a lake to GPS top speeds, but i'll do my best.

Hello.
Who’s favored and what’s the points spread?
I know who will win the battle before it begins, and he better get ready to drop some weight to get those RPM back! There's a new Sheriff in town, and it does not come from Yamaha nor does it have carbon fiber in its DNA!

I haven't done any testing with a stock machine, but if I had to go out on a limb, this is where I'd start.
Primary, Dalton 66g weights and a Yamaha blu/brn/blu spring. Secondary, stock 35 with factory yellow at 60 degrees.

The Dalton 66 weights won't be here on time, but i should know if i'm in the ball park.
Again, if this belt requires all new clutch parts, then the average stock guy isn't going to indulge that much cash or time adjusting if the 8JP is "good enuf"
