I used the scratchers for the first time last year after buying an XTX, and I was impressed at how well they worked, but I have already ruined a pair by forgetting to put them up before going into reverse. I was thinking about replacing with the cable scratchers, but these look really interesting. Do scratchers on the skis work as well as skid mounted, better than skid mounted?

I use the cables on my skid no need for ski mounting they throw snow real good and never never break..don't come off ever when in "up" position I ride them in and out of the trailer with them down. Also running all week long with them..over rocks, etc. awesome compared to those above or older tradional rod types. Never an issue.. But the only ones I found the best of the cables for wear, etc. is the Duraflex ones.

I had some homemade ones on my skis and I found with higher speeds, above 60mph, that the spray went almost straight back and would miss the track. They seemed very effective below 60mph though. My design used cheap hay rake springs from a tractor supply store.

They are more effective when on the skis in my opinion as the spray hits the entire skid. When you mount on the rail you relying on the track to bring snow back around and hit areas in front of where you have the scratchers mounted.
