Looking for 18 sidewinder
i am purchasing a new 18 sidewinder and being told it only has a year warranty from time of my purchase but for the heck of it i called yes and they are saying one year over in few months because was already registered and has extended till 2021
Is this something maybe the dealer doesnt know has extended or am i missing something?
I got a pic of my cert of origin and i am listed as 1st owner
Thx

I mean if it transfers over no matter what I am happy just curious either way
Supposedly guy that spring ordered sled never showed up by why would yes say it was registered

I have found yes to be helpful on a few big dollar repairs since 98

Any dealer can run the vin to check. Only thing that could throw a wrench in the deal is if the dealer buys the warranty back from Yes. Otherwise it’s transferable.

I would call yes back and ask for copies of your warranty to be emailed to you so you can print it out and have a hard copy for service times.
Once you get that, look it over if it is all correct, buy the sled and enjoy your free warranty!
Yes is a pretty good warranty. At least its good if your dealer is good. If your dealer sucks nothing ever gets covered.

My point was that if the dealer didnt say or put in writing that there is YES warranty then since the dealer is the original owner as far a YES is concerned he can buy the warranty back up until the new owner registers his sled with YES. At least thats how it is with regular owners. Maybe they dont allow dealers to buy warranty back. I never actually saw it done other than with customers. But it is definitely something to be careful of for anyone buying a sled with warranty left. Unless you are registered with YES as current owner the old original owner has every right to buy whats left of warranty back.

That is the kicker on this. If it was a spring order sled, it was automatically registered to the original owner even if he never took delivery of the sled. The original owner probably bought the YES, as it is a steal with a spring order. Since it follows the VIN and not the owner, you are set. The dealer should have known this.

I bought a Viper from a Polaris dealer used. They had no idea there was a YES contract on it, but it was 100% valid. You will be fine, just run the VIN and confirm the dates (as I think you have done) and you will be set.

Good luck
