Former Yamaha sleds:
2004 Venture 600 2002 SX Viper 700
1997 Vmax 600 SX 1994 Vmax 600 1989 Exciter
1986 Vmax 540 1986 Phaser 1981 SRX 440
If you spend enough time on this site you’ll become paranoid of problems you may or may not have. Just enjoy the sleds and know if you do have any trouble there are plenty of known fixes and people to answer questions for you. If my sled was half as bad as some make it out to be I’d be afraid to leave the trailer and yet in the 3 seasons I’ve had it it’s never once left me stranded or ruined my weekend. It’s nice to be able to see some of the issues so if you do have a problem you know what to do. I guarantee neither one of those machines will give you the trouble that 81 SRX did. Those were some finicky beasts back in the day and yet I stuck with Yamahas ever since owning that one. Not sure what that says about me?

Once again, great advice Folks !! I'll definitely do the turbo bolt never seize fix and change the oil/filter, greasing before snow arrives, then figure it out from there. I did get a 4 wheel kit with the sled, so I'll install that also.
I see some posters have spoken about a driveshaft issue. How do I know that this is a problem ? (sound, visual inspection, etc ?) The sled has warranty until Feb 2020.. I plan to bring it in before it expires and get the dealer to fix what is needed if possible. Sounds like the driveshaft has been done under warranty for a couple of guys. Finally, I had it relayed to me that the 2017 SW top gear does not have a hole in the top gear for oil. This was apparently changed for 2019. Are you guys aware of any issues by leaving mine "as is", assuming it has the original gear ? Might this be something the dealer would change under warranty ?
Ok..sorry... just thought of one more thing... Several of you guys spoke of resealing the oil tank. Does this only need to be done if it is leaking, or should it be a maintenance thing ? I don't see any oil leaks currently..
Thanks for your patience !!!

With regard to the oil tank...if it’s not leaking, don’t mess with it imo.

I did not read all the post but I would certainly delete the ROV as mine froze in Hearst, and Also tack the two screws with weld on your chain tensioner. Read Dan's sled build, you will find all you need to do!
