New viper program flash from Yamaha

Any new news? Have air box out doing air box mod debating on sending ecu out to EVO or not.

Would be nice to see if it's the same as the 17's without the 02 sensor.

I never had any issues after the flash. I did however have to pull teeth at the dealer to get it flashed. Before the flash I had issues with hot start and a couple instances when it had a very rough idle. With crank sensor codes and almost a mis fire or running on 2 cylinders. After the flash never an issue. If the new viper has a mitsu ecu. That would be a huge plus!

It's not a Mitsubishi was told programming is same as last year. Just deleted O2 sensor no reprogram needed because O2 sensor was doing nothing anyway! Don't know if they were exaggerating but those were pretty much exact words.

I was told the Viper idling problem ( hunting, inconsistent) may be due to the fact that the Viper MAP sensor only pulls vacuum from 1 throttle body vs. all three throttle bodies like the Nytro. By doing this they are getting an uneven vacuum source pulse vs. one that is an average of all 3 , making a smoother vacuum reading. It would be interesting to see if someone tee'd into all 3 at once if some of the idling problems would be cured or at least change.

That makes sense but us 14 owners never had the hunting idle till after the reflash. Much of it can be removed with a tune. Honestly the only thing that makes sense to me and accounts for the variance in one identical sled to another is a corrupt flashing method in some cases and a mechanical variance in others. Thinking valve clearance variance or something on that line. I will try what you suggest though since if on the edge issues could compound. Didnt the Nytro have Two or three MAP sensors though? Phazer has two. One for each cylinder.

My 14 had a idle that was uneven. My cure was a turbo!!!!!!!!!
Seriously though, the uneven idle went away with addition of the turbo but Dave at Hurricane T's the MAP sensor to all 3 throttle bodies.

Do you have some pics?

Can I send my ecu to the dealer to be refreshed, or will they want the whole machine?

If you are talking the Factory reflash then not unless your dealer was willing to install your ecu in a sled they have. Very time consuming/costly. If you are talking Hurricane they use a Power Commander to tune. So sending ecu to them would not be needed.

I'm not so good in english but I mean a sound of starting a 17 Viper with the new ecu flash. I hope no kick back.. ;)!
Janne339, your English is great, your message was clear!
