Agree. The Pioneer Kit is machined in such a way that includes a hub which the stock wheel slips into. This is much stronger than the stock mount which only incorporates a spacer / washer system; creating a weak point. Excell uses the weaker stock components.
Wish Pioneer made that kit for my Nytro...

god I sure hope they work better than those crapy hyperfax. Those suck. Didn't make it to 1000 miles on my srx with those, sled did coast good when they were new though.
Its not so much the heat, it is what happens when they do get hot, they get sticky and cause more friction which, causes more heat. If they slide easy, heat up hard, and don't turn to glue when they do get warm, they should do ok. oh, and stay together unlike the above mentioned HYper sux

This is an older thread but I am surprised there no more comparative review of the Yamaha Dupont hifax with Vespel and the Hiperfax. Anyone knows what material they use?

I used Dupont Hyfax on my 2011 last year. 4300 miles and they barely look warn. Gonna look at the track clips to see how they look once I pull it out of storage next month.Phatboyc said:This is an older thread but I am surprised there no more comparative review of the Yamaha Dupont hifax with Vespel and the Hiperfax. You guys are on 2011 and 2012 with newer idler wheels. Didn't Yamaha finally make them bigger like the others? 135mm I think? Just wanted to make sure this is noted here.

New ones are the same size, you have to upgrade to aftermarket wheels for the bigger ones.......135mm

Got it. Can the new idlers be installed in older Apex? I like the changeable bearing and spoke look. Sorry to take this of track.

The new yamaha spoke wheels are not bigger....you need to go with excel X wheels to get the 135mm. They also have replaceable bearings
And yes the Yamaha spoke wheels will replace the older wheels. The Yamaha spoked wheels also have removable bearings. With the Duponts the Excells were not needed for me last season and I believe the sled coasts better than ever as a bonus. No clip wear and my clips on Freeride have the little holes in them. Very happy with the Duponts and will buy them again.

Aren't those Duponts like a 100 bucks
For another 150 you can have the bigger wheels and never buy hyfax again or get 3 years out of them anyways

Remains to be seen if I get 3 years out of the Duponts but so far so good and like I said sled coasts better. I also think that since the wheels are less in contact with track they should last longer.

I don't have Excell's but got the idler brackets lowering kit.
Trying to see if I should go all the way and change to better hifax also. Especially now that I know I can switch to Yamaha spoke wheels why not spend some more. lol

Just realize I was confusing them with the big rear idlers where the new replaceable bearing is not the same with as older ones.
