Hi all,
I'm new to this site and looking for guidance. I just picked up a 05 Grizz to push some snow at 9300 feet. The machine I bought came from Maine and is a little rough getting going in Colorado high country.

Last weekend, I didn't think I would never get it started. It would cough and spit for a few minutes and then die. Once it was running, it was fine but idled like it was choking. This weekend, I killed the battery trying to start it. They guy I bought it from on eBay (Kashs.com) said it was completely serviced but I found the air filter filled with bugs, etc. So, I'll clean that today. Also, the spark plug (which he also said they changed) looks like the original (a little rusty and burnt). I'll replace that today.

I still think it needs to be adjusted to run at this altitude despite these things.

Any info/help getting my machine running correctly would be appreciated. ;)!

UPDATE: I changed the plug and cleaned the air filter and the Grizz fired right up! Running like a charm but would still be interested in info on jetting for altitude in case I run into any problems.
Thanks!

I think you will need to lean it down but I don't know how much. I would talk to a dealer in your area. I'm sure they would know exactly what you need to do.

yOU WOULD NOT NEED TO LEAN IT DOWN IF YOU ARE GOING UP IN ALTITUDE. yOU WANT TO FATTEN IT UP, i WOULD ALOS RECCOMEND DRAINING THE OIL AND PUTTING 5W30 COLD WEATHER OIL (YAMALUBE) IN AS YOU DON'T WANT 1030 OR 10 40 IN THERE WHEN IT IS COLD AS IT IS HARDER TO TURN OVER. i WOULD RECOMMEND GOING TO 45 PILOT FROM YAMAHA i'M NOT SURE ON THE MAIN BUT i WILL CHECK AND GET BACK WITH YOU TOMORROW. cOLD WEATHER OIL IS A MUST OR YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO TURN HER OVER WHEN IT GETS VERY COLD.
