hello everyone
i have just a few questions i bought a 08 nytro rtrx a year ago with about 600 miles on it. long story short i had just gotten home from iraq jumped on it and went. this year id like to actually get it ready for the season. id like to know what you guys do before each season. i already had some trouble with the starter relay getting wet and just clicking at me so i know about that but any other info would be great. also any upgrades youd recommend like new carbides see alot of people getting them right off the bat
thanks for your time!:)

Around october november every year I change the engine oil and usually the spark plugs. I also check the track tension and ball joints and all the boogie wheels and stuff. Grease all the nipples up. And change the gear oil to.

if you are gunna do something for the steering (skis or carbides) try playing with a set of dually carbides, shimming the rubbers on your skis and you will notice a huge difference. then if you still dont like it as much as you would then jump to a new set of skis. far to many people on here jump to new skis right off the bat instead of taking there time and trying a few cheaper alternatives first. just my 2 cents.

I agree, Don't jump the gun on replacing your skis until you get a better feel and understanding how the Nytro handles and remember, these sleds require a lot of rider input to get the most out of them. Start with a set of Stud Boy deuce bars, shim the ski rubbers and set the toe to 1/2" out. I'd also loosen the front shock preload so that about 4 threads are showing and pull the front strap one hole shorter. Eventually you may want to have the Fox Floats revalved to take some of the stiffness out of the ride and adding a steering post relocate kit like the one OFT offers will significantly improve steering comfort. It took me several years before I found a setup that makes me feel like I'm getting the most out of my 08 RTX and if I had to start over I think revalving the shocks and doing a steering post relocate would be first on my list.

For the starter relay best to pull apart and give a good coat of dielectric grease. Also when plugged back in coat the top of the harness were wires come in to prevent any water from entering. The relay is located right under the vent so it is prone to water dripping.
I actually just had this same problem on my FZ1 bike, some dielectric grease and was good to go again.

All good advice, but his last sentence is what I would also do. I did the whole ski thing, suspension adjustments, and it all helped, but when I revalved my rear shocks it made the biggest difference EASILY to making the sled handle better.

Take the rear shocks out and have them professionally valved for your weight and body style. THEN, fine tune the sled this winter, and see if you want new skis and all that other good stuff.

I would have to agree with fxnytro1050 on this one I would recommend changing the engine oil out at the end of each season rather than the beginning of it due to the fact that during the season the oils additives will break down and may potentially cause harm to your internals if left in during the off season. Probably not a huge deal but just a thought.

oil

Run Amsoil 0-40 and change it every 5000 kms or 300 miles. Storing over the summer whether fresh or used is no differance. Cheap insurance is piece of mind plus quality go along way in this sport!

Gizz about the front shocks.. He has floats, not GYTR's

??? I'm not following you. He has has a 2008 RTX, as I do. I dropped all four of my shocks off with Bruce at Pioneer Performance and had them back 3 days later. The only downfall with them revalved is that I bottom out a little more than before but other than that I'm happy with his work.

Suppose to say has not was. You where talking about the front shocks and i was thinkin u thought he had GYTRS Nevermind im 1/3 retarded
