I'm changing the jackshaft bearing on a 2014 Vector and am a little stumped. I've seen people say that the newer style with the 2 screw holder can be changed entirely from the secondary side. I'm not having a lot of success getting it off even after removing the retaining rings. In the service manual is says the bearing is still pressed onto the shaft and the only way I can see to get the bearing off is to take the shaft entirely out like the old style. I also saw someone post that there's a nut to loosen the tapered inner race on the bearing, but that entire housing seems to be smooth.
What am I missing?

If I remember correctly when I had my apex I used a light amount of heat to remove number 15 off the bearing and then again some heat to remove the bearing from the shaft, the bearing is lightly pressed into the housing and on the shaft, it should come out easily with some heat even a high output heat gun will work.
Hope this helps.

If you take the brake rotor and set screw collar off you should be able to slide the shaft. There is no nut inside to prevent shaft from sliding. If you slide it out just a bit then you could maybe get some puller jaws on the bearing housing on secondary side and pull it off with a flywheel puller.
If you pull shaft all the way out the top gear, spacers and washers will just drop inside the chain case and you will definitely have to open chain case.

Thanks guys - I'll try some heat first (this was my next thought too), and if that doesn't work, the brake rotor trick is good to know. I was going to make a fixture to pull it off and am glad to know there's a possibility to not open the chain case.

If the heat doesn’t work just remove the chain case cover and remove the shaft from the clutch side, it’s not that bad to remove the cover.
