I am getting ready to put a 60 or 90 shot (holtzman) on my 06 Apex GT. It is true that you have to run 110 octane with the 60 and 114 octane with the 90 shot? Also, are their any recommendations for added mods to go with the nitrous?

Thanks.

i have heard of guys running close to 100hp shots on pump gas. i ran a 60 shot with my boss system for 3 seasons on pump gas with zero problems.

91 octane with the 90hp shot.

What gauges do you guys run with your nitrous? The CB kit I have uses a external tank with race fuel or E85 and a I have a fuel pressure gauge in the dash to watch, if I have fuel pressure its safe, there is no tuning with the kit, just use the right jets.

I just cant bring myself to trust the holtzman unless there was some idicator that your getting nitrous AND fuel when on the button...besides taking off like a rocket. Good example I was running a 80hp shot and had zero pressure mid way through the spray and let off immedietly...external fuel pump died on me! That little gauge saved my engine. It would be hard to duplicate on a system that is tied into the factory fuel injection system though.

Did it lean out for some reason. I know mine was because all four plugs electrodes were burned off. That was my fault as I had my fuel setting waaaaay too low.
no wayne i started using alot of oil on the spray and was down about 80 lbs of compression.all the plugs were fine but when i pulled the motor apart the top ringland on the piston was cracked.this motor used oil from day 1 could have been a problem from the start.i remember the fuel screws being at 6 turns out.i went turbo last year and will never look back

Kinger,

You are lucky you were watching the gauges. A few seconds of 80 shot with no gas will surely pop the motor.

Hard to watch those gauges when your hammering that extrr 80 HP huh?

The problem is when your on the trail you don't really know the fuel quality. Keep a can of N.O.S. off road octane booster handy. It is better to have too much octane than not enough when it comes to performance mods. I too seized a ring from not running enough octane. You can't hear the detonation when your on the throttle. I have enrichened my fuel setting and I haven't had a problem running a 50 Flywheel shot on 91 but this is at altitude 8000' which lowers your octane requirement.

Kinger you can run a fuel pressure safety switch inline with your nitrous solonoid so if you ever lose a pump, or have too low fuel pressure, it won't spray the nitrous. It helps so you don't need to look down at your gauges.
