I was told today by a gas station owner and a snowmobile dealer that there is no more regular gas in Canada. It will all be mixed with Ethynol and the only way to avoid it is to buy Premium !!! The gas companies are keeping it quiet!!! There's gonna be a lot of 2 strokes melting down!!! :o|

The pumps around Ontario have been saying "up to 10% Ethanol" for years.....

Its been mandatory 10% in the USA and I heard it has been upd to 15%,They are also not required to tell you anymore how much they are using if more than mandatory, ethanol sucks careful filling your tank when its snowing, ethanol WILL absorb moisture. It is also very bad when it sits with gasoline for a long period of time. F**K ETHANOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! With gas prices going up they will be using it if its cheaper than gas

In Quebec a lot of gas stations have Ethynol blend pumps separate from the regular and premium. As of September 2010 no more regular no lead I was told it all comes blended!!! :die

Fuel injected four strokes suffer the least ill affects from the crap gas. Wreaks havoc on carburetors and two smokes. We have been dealing with it in the lower 48 for some time now. Got rid of the RX because of constant bs with the carbs.

Unfortunately most of American has been lead to believe that statement is true. However, in true US gov't style, the only reason ethanol is even being produced is because of politics and because the government is giving subsidies to farmers who grow the corn that makes the ethanol.

According to healthandenergy.com "Ethanol from corn costs about $1.74 per gallon to produce, compared with about 95 cents to produce a gallon of gasoline. "That helps explain why fossil fuels-not ethanol-are used to produce ethanol", Pimentel says. "The growers and processors can’t afford to burn ethanol to make ethanol. U.S. drivers couldn’t afford it, either, if it weren’t for government subsidies to artificially lower the price."

And you wonder why the deficit is so high...

This is the big problem, MIS INFORMED PEOPLE THAT BELIEVE EVERY HING THEY READ!!!!! I am a farmer and i have collected a measly couple buck's from gov program's. This couple buck's has not changed in many many years even when ethanol had very little use, Ethanol will absorb water if there is any in your tank but it does not absorb all moisture out of thin air when fueling. (use a little common sense here) No i can't use ethanol in my diesel tractor's or truck's However we do use a small percentage of bio diesel. After making 1.7 gal of ethanol from one 56 lb bushel of corn there is 48 lb of very high protein feed left over and 1.2 gal of Co2 that will eventually be used in all ac. (eco friendly). It is a very good fuel capable of making far more power than than gas and much cleaner in the end. You people need to quit being so selfish and start thinking about the future of our environment and becoming less dependent on some other country's to supply our fuel, We are at there mercy. I would go in to some other thing's but they do not want politics brought up in this sight for good reason. It will take time to convert but in the end it will be worth it. By the way the only one getting any subsidy for ethanol is the blender's for using the mandated 15%. As a farmer i get sick of feeding the big mouth's that don't have a clue. We operated at a prophet margin that most people would have given up on and lived off of the system for many many years. Now we finally come up with a few buck's and every one points a finger at us. Ethanol has been studied and researchered to death and they keep coming back to it. It is not the solve all but it is a viable tool. Get over it, Adapt and move on.

I'm sorry Viper but I'm going to have to disagree. Ethanol may look to be a viable alternative to gasoline but in the end you still need gasoline to make ethanol. If ethanol was so great you would be able to use ethanol to make ethanol but that's just not the way it works.

I will agree, we need to decrease our dependence on foreign oil and hopefully sometime in the future we'll be able to use a fuel that is eco-friendly. However, the technology just isn't there yet and forcing people to use ethanol just so that we look eco-friendly and can pat ourselves on the back for using it is not right. We live in a world with gasoline powered engines...These engines are harmed by ethanol and as such, we should limit our use of ethanol as much as possible until we can find a suitable alternative for gas.

LOL are you saying that when you fill with gas with no ethanol that the snow won't go in to your tank. With no ethanol you will need to put alcohol in your tank so it don't freeze up your fuel line's. LOL

You are confusing ethanol with isopropyl. Iso surrounds water and allows to burn safely and or not freeze lines. Ethanol does not. First myth that needs to be buried is peak oil and its supposed origins of dead dinosaurs. Just another way to keep energy highly profitable. Must have been a $h1T load of them in a big huddle miles beneath of water, then miles beneath the Gulf floor upon extinction. Google, oil is abiotic and have fun.HEHE.

can i recommend a good spelling and grammar checker?

There have been class action lawsuits by boat owners that have had their fuel tanks and engines damaged by ethanol. The heat output of ethanol is lower than gasoline, hence, lower mileage.

At least the labeling at the pump is getting better. Noticed at Shell that they disclose the ethanol content by grade: bronze: 10%, silver: 5% and gold: 0%. From what I read, all premium fuels do not contain ethanol EXCEPT for that 94 octane crap at Petro Canada (formerly Sunoco). Since most of our 4 strokes use premium, we should be good.

What is really confusing is gas stations that sell ethanol separately from their "regular' gas, like McEwen and Drummonds. That green pump has 10% but the regular pump says that it may contain up to 10%. Plus they sell it 1 cent more than regular. Sure, pay more for less efficient gas!
