I admit I didn't read all the posts. But, come on guys. Some sound like a bunch of babies. You got 15k miles out of a sled and you wanna jump brands because the dealer doesn't have the part and you get it cheaper online anyway. I have 12,800 miles on my 2011 and have not put a single penny into it except for wear items. It still has the same wheels, track, shocks, bushings, and just changed the oil filter for the first time last week. Go ahead and buy that Poo, Doo, and AC crap and see what you get.
I know what I will get.....a sled that is 150 lbs lighter, has a 4 year warrantee, and is actually fun to ride. The motor will last about as long as MY bullet proof 4 stroke.
150 lbs huh. Keep drinking the cool aid there dude. Are they heavier? Yup, but 150lbs uhhhhh no way. I have a 2013 doo 600 ace. The motor is cool but the rest of the sled is a piece of crap. I only bought it because i'm teaching my 12 yo to sled and yamaha doesn't make a sled that is easy to learn on like that one. My daughter hit me at 5 mph from behind and broke the plastic on it in the front. My feet bounce off the footwells in any chop. What a POS.

well my apex has needed lots of parts and downtime in the 15000mi cam shaft gear bolt loosened at 1500mi at the dealer for jan,feb and march I have done exhaust donuts multiple times I use copper ones now. two tracks two chains both the front and rear arms of the rear suspension. the rear shock has been rebuilt and the wire head changed 5 times. All the plastic bushings in the rear suspension twice, stator and gasket, y-pipes, muffler pipe. multiple bogey wheels and bearings, wiring harness ground blocks, fuel relays, seat cover, changed front suspension bushings to oil-lite. jackshaft bearing, 3 drive shaft bearings. Nytro has ben better but I have a lot less mi and I have around 20grand in it to make it work the way I want it to. I have a 2011 xrs with 9300mi that I had the pistons replaced on recall and I changed hyfax and carbides once each year. just replaced the recoil and one time rebuild on the shocks. just gas and oil. The only thing I don't like about the doo is the isoflex grease in the outer crank bearings. engine will need a complete rebuild now. I think I will just sell the sled and move on to another XRS with r-motion and ras2. Yamaha had the best sleds from 97-2002. In my opinion ski doo XRS is the best sled for the type of riding I do. I will keep and ride the yamahas but until they make something better Im out.

You may as well become a dealer and stock your own parts.

That list is bigger than this whole forum has used in the past 5 years.

You are riding these sleds on snow trails and not an interstate right?

nothing wrong with what srx900 is saying.
I love my apex but I just moved onto a viper because I wanted a better ride and I am sick of investing money into the apex.
I have 13000 miles on it.
most bogie wheels have been replaced and all bogie wheels have had bearings replaced at least 3 times 4-5 sets of hyfax, now running the DuPont and LOVE them!
3 chains replaced in chain case. on 3rd set of chain case bearings. 4 drive shaft bearings, on my 3rd secondary shaft bearing.
2 broken rails, broke front arm 2 times broke rear arm 1 times. just broke beef up kit front arm again welding it now. replaced battery. replaced plastic steering bushing with oilite.
on my 2nd track now. 3 rear shock revalves/ rebuilds and a spring change then I swapped to the megafloat and had to revalve that. 3 iolite bushing kits for a-arm bushings in the front. all steering linkage and rod ends replaced.
ive replaced a junk stator and a non functioning hand warmer switch.
exhaust donuts replaced 3 times. now using copper donuts.
header/y pipes both broke, replaced with stainless. now exhaust is busted in half and im rewelding not replacing because its my spare sled.
theres a ton of stuff im sure I am forgetting.

not complaining just stating the facts. lots of this stuff is wear items and when you are rough on your sled and put high miles on a sled the wear items are gonna add up

I change as needed or grease the bogie wheel bearings every season. every 2-3 years I pull the drive and secondary bearings and replace because I want to. not because I have to. chain case bearings are replaced every 4000 miles because it makes me feel safe.
ive only had this sled let me down 3 times. one time I had a drive shaft bearing in the chain case let go. that's why im over the top on maintenance.
on a fluke, I also tore the Schrader valve out of the megafloat.
I also ripped the shock mount clean off of the rear arm.
other than that this has been a rock solid reliable ride.

Dry weight Apex MTX= 595
Summit X = 464
The Apex is really heavy when being towed.

I have a 2006 apex with 15000mi and a 2010 Nytro turbo with 4500mi and like all sleds they have parts that wear and need replacing. I will not buy another Yamaha because the dealers don't carry any parts. It takes at least a week to get parts and the dealer doesn't have to stock anything. lately I have been buying parts online at a 30percent discount and have them shipped to my door in the same amount of time. I will not buy another Yamaha because of this. I will own ski doos My local dealer has every part that I might need. If my Yamaha dealer is not going to stock parts I need to be able to buy direct from the Yamaha and have them shipped to my door that would be faster. I keep these yamahas and use them for spare sleds for my friends to ride but Im not buying anymore until this changes.

So is it dealers or dealer? You blame all dealers because your dealer does not stock parts. I just changed dealers for that reason! Mostly overnight delivery and sometimes same day. Need to order a belt and new slides but will wait till I open the sled up a bit and check it over before I order. Pretty sure I'll have it all by fall!

parts

Its all the dealers in this area they only get shipments from Yamaha once a week and if you miss the deadline for ordering parts you may have to wait two weeks I bent a subframe on my Nytro and it took three months to get it. And yes I called Yamaha USA and complained numerous times. that was the end for me. Yamaha and Every dealer knew that the subframes were weak and not one of the 10 dealers within 150mi had one and they were backordered from Yamaha. The snow season is short and snowmobileing is my passion so when I don't have my sled for months at a time I get upset.

I need motor number 3 for my Renegade 600 etec. Blew it to pieces a couple of weeks ago. Not bad for 11,500 kms. Dealer does not have all the parts in stock.

Not bad? am i misreading your post or are you saying that 3 engines in 11,500 km which is something like 9,000 miles if im guessing correct is not bad? i guess it is all in what you are willing to live with? as far as weight i have never onec carried my sled and i like how solid it feels on the trail. for the limited off trail i do for now it works just fine too. now if i get more into boondocking ill prolly get a phazer and maybe turbo it.

My post is sprinkled with sarcasm.....but yes third engine in 7100 miles.
