Well, have you heard anything about maybe a little further north? I don't mind trailering to a good spot. I just don't know anything around there. We will be staying in West Milan so anything that keeps us in NH and within an hour or so would be acceptable....

Well Swift-Diamond is one of the sites I no longer pay any attention to. I have seen them post "good-great" riding too many times, only to find out you have to ride on dirt for 10 miles before you get to marginal conditions. My sled is too expensive to ride on 2" of base, and clean out a pair of a-arms on a rock. I'm sitting tight until/if we get snow.

I'd love to reply to you, but I can't think of anything nice to say. Take it for what it is.

Anybody know where to park a trailer in Pittsburg, or anywhere near there?

There is a parking area near Back Lake- watch for signs, then take a left off rt. 3. The parking area is on the right on your way in. I think you can also park by the dam at Lake Francis. Let us know how the riding in that area is.

I can't say for sure, I haven't been there lately, but the warm weather has hit the whole area pretty hard. And its supposed to be warm again tomorrow.

Went to Coleman State park on Saturday around noon, the place was packed. Could barely find a place to put my trailer. We were quite suprised at how much more snow they had than Milan. Wasn't a lot but all of the trails were covered. We motored around the warming hut area for a while and then decided that the snow woudl only get better the further north we went. So we drove the 35 miles north to the Pittsburg Ridge Runners warmup hut. All in all on the way up we only hit one section of really bad trail, it was down to mud and just horrible. The rest of the trails were actually quite fun and had a lot of snow.
On the way home the trails started to get pretty trashed, there were so many machines out and the ruts and bumps were getting quite big. We did a total of 70 miles and had a blast. While we were leaving the groomers were just starting to go out again.
On the other hand was driving the trails around the lodge in W Milan and they were horrible.

Thanks for the info about the northern trails. We got about 2-3" last night here, and its still spitting snow slowly. The forecast is for "snow showers" all week, which could mean almost nothing or could add up to a foot by the end of the week. We'll just have to wait and see.

We drove home in that mess last night, it was horrible. had to drive like 40 MPH until we hit concord and finally hit the rain. We were both VERY suprised at how good the conditions were up there. Suprisingly there were a ton of people in the parking lot but we didn't run in to too many on the trails, only at junctions. It was a blast, of course the bumps were pretty bad ont eh way back so my lower back is KILLING me.

When you tried the Milan trails, did you happen to go on the power lines at all? I saw tracks showing that a couple riders tried riding the power lines, but I don't know how far they got. There were no fresh tracks all week, then there were tracks showing 1 sled went up and back Friday evening, and a couple more went through Saturday. I stopped and looked at the trail, saw a few rocks sticking up through what little snow there was, and decided not to chance it. If we had a 2-place trailer, we would probably try trailering up to Pittsburg, but we have a theory about trailers...living up here, trailers are only for bringing a sled to the dealer. Our sleds are for riding, not for trailering...lol. That has worked fine living up here until this year. Oh well, we have at least another month of winter left, and there is always next year.

Actually never went on any official Milan trails, I was riding the families trails up there, they own like 120 acres and they made their own trails. So, sorry, I have no idea what they were like.

Hey guys...to bad you didnt come up to Pittsburg earlier. Arrived Thursday afternoon and put on about 60 miles, rode Friday put on 178 miles, rode Sat. and put on 195 miles (although most of Sat was early morning till noon and then at night until 11:00) stayed off the trail on Saturday afternoon. Have to say was some of the best riding of the year. There was plenty of snow higher up and the trails were like glass (except for sat. afternoon) Heading up the 2nd weekend in Feb. Cant wait.
