Northern N.H. '05/'06

Glad you have nice riding Paul, we didn't get on the trails until around noon on Saturday and the ride out to pittsburg was actually not too bad, they were nice and smooth and while there were a ton of people out, didn't have to deal with too many idiots and only saw a few while on the trails riding, saw most of them hanging out at junctions. There was one really bad section of trail 5 but that was it. However on the way back to Colebrook the trails were horrible. Tons of bumps, and just not comfortable. Saw a ton of yamaha's out there though!!

Things aren't looking good up in this area. Rain Friday night, 50 degrees yesterday, and it poured all night last night. Lots of grass showing again. Colebrook has officially closed their trails and locked up the gates until/if we get more snow. I talked to someone who came back from Pittsburg in the middle of the week, and he said there are a few decent trails, but getting to them is tricky. To get to fuel, you need to ride on a mile of almost completely bare trail. Even on their web site, they list the "trails around Young's Store" in the "trails to avoid".

For the good news, they say higher elevation trails are holding up reasonably well, and many of the more northern trails are decent to good.

Unfortunately, due to the weather and little chance of our local trails opening up this year, I started prepping my sled for storage for the summer. In my area the trails are very flooded and it would take a miracle to get them ridable now. Even if we got 2 feet of snow and cold weather, there are many places that are flooded, and many local trails are blocked off by swamps and brooks with high water and pooling in low areas. I talked to a groomer operator, and he said there is little chance of being able to get a groomer through here again no matter what the weather does at this point. :o|

:drink: Ya got that right! lol. I moved up here from southern NH to get away from this kind of weather. Oh well, this stuff can't last forever. Maybe next year we'll be riding from November until April. Just think if all this rain was snow instead...

Registering my 4 machines (out of state registration) was a huge waste of money this season. This has now taught me not to register them until, or if, there is ridable snow in my area.

50 miles for the season for me. Fortunately I didn't register our 2 sleds this year, because I was waiting for snow before doing it. For once my procrastination paid off! Those 50 miles were just riding up and down our access trail clearing brush, and 1 trip down to town with my wife for lunch.

Just got back from the Swift Diamond Area. Riding was ok this weekend. Normally its much better. Pretty warm Friday with just a light mist after about 3" of heavy wet snow. Two groomers from Swift were in the area all day. Saturday the trails were getting worn down pretty qiuck. Pretty much slush conditions. Some corners were alittle icey. We did about 150 miles saturday. Started raining saturday night and never stopped till 9:30 AM. Trails out where getting hammered quick. If it really does cool down and the groomers get back out they could work what is there for some riding. With just alittle snow it would be decent in the swift area. We will see what this weekend brings.

I just got back from two days of riding northern Pittsburgh area. I thought the riding was great! The feeder trails could have used more snow, but there was anywhere from 1.5" to 3' on the trails to the north. The only problem we had was the groomers were not out all weekend the some of the trails got beat-up. It was a little rough in some spots, but for the most part the riding was excellent. We go in 210 miles in a day and a half.
