NYTRO GAUGE SWAP?

Yes Skydog, seeing as your selling the sled it's time to let the cat out of the bag. You've been leaving us hanging here for a while! We all expect detailed drawings with parts lists. LaLaLa

ttt, I hate that tach on the Nytro. Pretty stupid on Yamaha's part if you ask me.

guys, i have not done this but have installed a different guage on another sled. after 2000 any sled with newer ignition, srx/viper/rx1, vector etc all used a 1 pulse output no matter how many cylinders or if it was a 4stroke or not. I had installed on my 03 venture(sx motor, two bulb headlight) a 03 rx1 guage. Tach reads correct and all inputs work other than my hand warmer signal. I had to install a viper shaft in this sled so I could bolt a rotor to the end for the speedo pickup. I see no reason why yamaha would make the nitro motor any different, 1 pulse, 1 revolution just like all these other sleds. when I did my venture, even the oil sender output worked through the same wires that run the output on the rx1 guage.
the only difference I can see is that the apex guage has some extra functions for programing the computer, not sure if that function exists on a nitro. If it does, my guess is that it is done through the same color wires. Yamaha likes to keep wire color the same for certain functions, nice when your messing with this stuff.

I have guages from rx1 if anyone wants to try one.

I agree, the tach is an embarasment.

everything? fuel guage, grip and thumb warmer readings,? odo, trip, tach, diagnostics, and warning lights?

I WANT THE DAMN CLOCK! LOL! gotta figure out how to make that work permenantly. any ideas? ski

any idea on the clock thing? you said it works if you dont leave it shut off too long? ski

well! just bought a 2009 gauge from an vector. large numeral tach and smaller lcd mph. . ill work on making it fit this summer. will keep you posted.

well i disconnected my nytro gauge and pluged in the 09 vector gauge? nothing? no lights nada. i imagine its just how the wires are in the connector. any ides howto find out what might be the way to change the wiring order in the connector?

You'd probably have to compare the electrical diagrams to see if the corresponding coloured wires connect to the same sensors.

Do the colours match up from the Vector gauge the same way as the Nytro gauge?

Looking at the electrical diagram right now for my Nytro, the speedometer guage wires are a group of 6 wires, like a 6 pack of beer, reads as follows:

Top row: Blue/Yellow, Yellow, Red/White
Bottom row: Chocolate, Red/Black, Green/Black

How does this compare to the Vector guage?

DANX123
Is this a guage for the Vector GT with EFI? I see they are about a hundred bucks cheaper the Apex guage. That Apex guage is spendy, over $500.
Usually the wire terminals can be removed from the connector with a small pick, and then relocated to the correct position for the Vector guage.
