Nytro running rough and stalling

So all throughout the year my sled has been in storage and I pulled it out in november to change the track, skid relocate, extro, rail/tunnel extension and it ran great. I tooled around around the field after I finished that project for about a half hour and didn't have a problem so I loaded it up and brought it home and put it in the backyard waiting for snow. It's been sitting there for about a month now.

I go to start it up a few days ago and dead battery, whatever I just went and bought a new one, charged it and put it in. Started the sled up and it ran a little rough so I let it warm up and started riding around the yard and the power would drop out time to time and stall. No check engine light and no codes show up on the screen.

What could it be? From everything I've read on here the consensus would be the crank sensor but I don't wanna throw money at until I can at least check something to see if that is the problem. Anybody got any ideas?

How old is the gas ? Did you treat it?

Gas is about 10 months old and not treated but I put some fresh 87 in today. I should add it's an 08.

Sounds like phase separation (crappy fuel) if it was old and un-stabilised regular. Hope you drained old gas first. If not you might not notice any improvement.

So I went out back to start it up to pull in the garage and siphon the gas out and it turned over and backfired a little. Now the check light is flashing code 12 (crank sensor) and won't turn over (sounds normal from looking at the chart.)

So it's save to assume I'll be ordering a new sensor and dragging it in the garage with the wheeler.

Did you try to jump the starter relay to see if it will turn over. I have read about this on TY before that some times the relay has an issue and can cause a code 12. I'm sure someone will chime in. I would not buy a sensor yet. Change the gas and charge battery to full and give it another try.

No I didn't. I'll try that tomorrow after work. If I jump the relay and it turns, starts, then the relay took a crap and bad gas? and if it doesn't crank then it's the sensor? I'm not good at diagnosing but I can fix the stuff. I had the local dealer order a sensor and also had them get the updated fuel relay while I was at it, haven't paid for any of it yet.

A few yrs ago, my Nytro would not start one cold morning. Starter relay was the culprit. I swapped it out with a new spare, but it the threw a code 12 crank sensor. I turned my primary by hand it couple inches, turned the key and it started...no codes or problems like that since then. Dont know if this helps....but it did for me at the time

I put the battery on the charger after work and put it back in turned the key and tried to jump the relay and got nothing. I tried a few times and got nothing but hot pliers.

Well I just got back from a nice long drive to get a new new relay and put it in and still won't turn over and still got code 12. Well at least I got a spare now.

So that leaves it down to the crank sensor I'm gonna guess.

If you jumped the relay and the starter is not turning over the engine you have a starter issue. That's why I put the link above for you to check out the troubleshooting of a starter. You said you used a pair of pliers and they only got hot. I assumed that meant she did not turn over. Did she turn over and just not start?
