I have an 08 nytro Rtx the last ride I took the temp light came on but it didn't seem to be over heating the antifreeze was full. Would low oil level cause this?

It could have overheated even though the antifreeze reservoir was full.

Could have been for any number of reasons. Did it stay on? What kind of snow conditions were you running? What speed? Did you stop and let it cool down?
Ignoring that light is not a good idea. It's telling you something is wrong. Mine overheated a couple of times with the light coming on in low snow conditions. The Phazer too on a lake. Just stopped and let it cool and was good afterwards.
Why we don't have an actual gauge on these sleds. Would be an idea to add an aftermarket one.

Your tunnel could have iced up and stopped the snow from hitting the front heat exchanger too.....a boot to the tunnel a couple time and let it cool should work too

Could be a few things. Like the earlier comment, the light is telling you something is going on.
I had a similar issues this past season. Turns out it was the fan relay. It was a quick fix. It was initially puzzling though. Temps were around 0 degrees C with loose snow. I would have thought there was enough snow for the exchanger but without the rad fan drawing air, it just got hot and couldnt take the heat away.
I would say this -
Check the:
-fan motor on the rad to make sure it still works.
-make sure the fan motor turns freely and isnt siezed.
-have the fan relay tested.
-make sure there isnt an ice block in the tunnel starving the heat exchanger from snow.
Failing those things, look for pin holes in the rad where there is coolant loss or air in the system
Good luck.

I am sure I have read here that the temp lights come on prematurely, which is a good thing. Mine has come on while trail riding. A quick slip into the snow beside the trail and the light goes out. If this works for you , there is not much to worry about if you keep a close eye on the light. I have purchased a under tunnel auxiliary cooler and am hoping this will resolve this issue. Unfortunately I won't know till next year.

The temp light actually doesn't come on soon enough, as it's not far behind the point when the sled will shut itself down. If you're seeing the light, it's far too hot.
These sleds could make good use of a fan that activated at a far lower temperature as well, but the simplest thing to check is the mixture of anti-freeze/water. Most if not all of the discussions here have indicated that Yamaha puts 100% antifreeze in their sleds, which has at least been true for the 5 different ones I've owned, and every other one that has been to my shop. Just checking it with a cheap anti-freeze tester on each one indicated that its freeze point was +15f! remove half of the coolant an add distilled water will drop the protection level to -40f as it should be. This will also help with the ability of the coolant to remove heat from the engine as well.
Check that first.

The only time I've had mine come on was in some warmer weather when we were using my sled as a flashlight so we could see to fix my friends broken down Arctic Cat! Took it for a quick spin off trail and the light went right off. I think the dash vent helps a lot, plus its a great way to warm up gloves or something when you stop.

My light comes on at 212 on my gauge. I added slide kicks to the inside of my skis which helped allot. I feel the cooling system on the Nytro is inadequate for riding in marginal snow conditions in higher temps. When the snow gets hard or the temps climb above 35 I really keep an eye on it. The temp gauge was one of the best things I've added, you can watch it slowly climb and know you either need to find some powder or shut it down for a while. It should have came with it in the first place.
