What temperature does the temperature light come on? I was riding today on hard packed condition temp was 15 to start then later 32 and my temp light came on alot. I have already diluted the antifreeze to -35 and have added water wetter. The sled is not low on fluid and overflow is full. I have a trail tank on the sled I was wondering if it restricts air flow through the radiator. Has anyone else had the temp issue and what have you done to help it. Also the fan is working.

One of the other posts on this site says that it comes on at 210 F. I'm seeing average operating temperatures between 160 and 180 depending on conditions.

What kind of gauge are you using and can you post a picture.

If the condition are right theses sleds run hot. The first thing you'll hear is to check the coolant blend and add water wetter but I found neither helped. I had the same problem on hard packed trails, near or above freezing temperatures and reduced speeds. If you can find fresh snow to run trough or pick up your speed it'll cool enough to turn the light off but I found doing these things are sometimes impossible and can be dangerous. I didn't like the idea of cutting a bunch of holes in the hood to help vent the heat these engines produce so I looked for other options. I believe the problem is that these sleds run an undersized cooling system. Luckily Yamaha sells a heat exchanger kit for these sleds (the exchanger comes stock on the mountain series) which increases the cooling capacity enough to cure the problem. The trail tank does not cause the Nytro to run hot. I had the problem before I installed mine and since the addition of the extra heat exchanger I have had absolutely no problems with over heating.

Without a doubt the tunnel heat exchanger is the fix if your Nytro tends to run hot. These sleds should come stock with these exchangers but Yamaha engineers once again miscalculated. Thanks Yamaha for selling me a $300+ dollar part that should have come stock on a $10k sled.

It's an automotive unit and the brand name is Trisco but you should be able to use any 12v gauge that will fit your panel. I like this one because it looks stock and has different color LEDs for riding at night. Then I bought a kit from Royal Distributing that comes with the right size union for splicing the hose and a 1/8 NPT port for the sending unit. All this cost about $70 but you can find kits on here that come with everything- they just might cost a little more.
